  1. Oh yeah, that's my Avid. You're entirely correct.
  2. You have many choices that's for sure. I opted for a Lews Magnum One. Lews also has some pretty slick new rods this year. You may want to give them a look too. I recently bought a G Loomis IMX and a St Croix Avid for working docks, tree's, shore line crap ect.. both fantastic rods.
  3. I've been working on tying the FG.. Slick knot.
  4. I like them better than split grips.. I do have three split grip rods that I like very much.
  5. I had a local builder install the cork grip and black butt for me. It's on my Lews Rod which was an EVA split grip. I do have an Avid though.. Love it.
  6. I'm lovin my Loomis, No issues at all. Rod and reel under 9oz's.
  7. I've been using cork for so long I can't get use to the EVA. I've tried more than once.
  8. Dam, I just bought my first Loomis. It's an IMX and it does have all the specs printed on it.
  9. New 10" cork handle on my Lews Magnum One.
  10. I tried the 40# Gliss line. I like it for spinning reels. I'll stick with PP or 832 on my bait casters.
  11. If its not broke don't fix it...
  12. No one of authority ever told me a right handed reel was for right handed people. lol I'm right handed. I cast with my right and reel with my left. Makes sense to me... When I played hockey I used a lefty stick. That also made sense to me.
  13. I'm using Stren High Impact for my leaders. Fishing in extremely rocky areas I've had no problem with breaks or knots. Yesterday morning before I headed out to the lake I spooled one of my reels with Sufix 832. I wanted a fair comparison to the PP. The line has a very different feel to it. It's quieter than PP and flows very smoothly thru the guides. The other qualities worth mentioning is that 832 winds extremely level and never once dug into itself. I'm totally impressed with both braids.
  14. I have three reels spooled with PP now. Spooling another one tomorrow before I leave for the Lake. I also have a brand new spool of 40lb Kast King. Not a bad braid.. But not as good as PP. I'll sell it in the market forum.. 500 meters spool.
  15. I very recently bought two rods for jigs. A G Loomis IMX and a St Croix Avid. The G Loomis is rated 1/4-1 and the St Croix is rated 3/8-1. Both rods are 6'. The St Croix is a tad bit stiffer which I expected. I also have a Lews Magnum One. It's 7' and rated 1/4-7/8, It's seriously stiff with a very fast tip. I can easily flip pad and weed mats with it. Ratings are all over the place these days. It's a real pain it the butt when trying to decide on a rod that's not available locally.
  16. Update: This reel was doing well. I was impressed with it from the start. After fishing with it for to solid afternoons with my IMX rod Power Pro 65# and swim jigs it changed. It's even smoother and and more cast able. It really works with the rod its on. I have BB1s, BB1 Pros, Tournament Pros, Patriarchs and XTs and Curado's which are all very nice reels. This Magnesium reel, I wouldn't sell it for a grand. This reel is a stunner.
  17. After two afternoons of fishing With Power Pro I can honestly say I'm completely satisfied. The line is smooth, ties well, spools well and cast great. Could not find anything negative at all. Excellent Braid.
  18. Gliss does the same thing with a bast caster. I have no idea what it will do on a spinning reel. It also kinks a lot. I removed the Gliss. It's not for me.
  19. I ended up buying The Snip and a Rapala 5" serrated scissors. Got them on eBay.
  20. I paid 175 for my BB1 Pro. Fantastic reel.
  21. Did I forget to tell you I can cast this one upside down?By the way, the knob design is well thought out. Very comfortable. Best I've had on a reel.
  22. St Croix has two available in the retail store. Sale price is $114.00 plus shipping. Model: AVC60MHF It's been discontinued. If you need a short rod this is a great opportunity to get a quality rod at a deal. They have others on sale too so give them a call if your looking to buy something.

  23. I used the 40 yesterday on a bait caster. The uni knot with 7 wraps holds well.
  24. This reel is class thru and thru.
  25. I ended up buying 65#. I like the diameter.
