  1. It takes about 45 minutes to thoroughly clean and lube a reel.
  2. Hootie, Does the Tru Oil change the feel of the cork? Make it sticky?
  3. Just cleaned a few of mine last night with the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Brand new again! Thx for the tip....
  4. lol, you old fart!
  5. First time out of state, Took four weeks to get them back. One of them was all screwed up and the work I asked for wasn't done. I got a bunch of verbal gymnastics... Last week One went in the drink, I took it to a local guy for a cleaning and upgraded drag washers. Got it back the next day with an excuse, The Gears in this reel are worn so its not working at 100%. Oh ok... another idiot.... The reel was purchased three months ago. I use it on my spinner bait rod. I primarily throw Jigs.... OP, I cast with my right and reel with my left. No changing hands.. It's natural for me to cast that way.
  6. These reels are so simple.. They don't require much at all. If you can do Lego's you can service a reel.
  7. A guide popped out of a tip on one of my rods. I had a local guy install what he had to fit the diameter of the tip of the rod. Its twice the size it should be but It works until the tip I need shows up. If I had the same problem you do I'd have the rod at the local shop asap.. no delay. I like my gear to be right all the time.
  8. Then it's useless print. No way to know unless you pay the price for the rod, shipping and shipping again if the rod is wrong for you. It sure is tough out there, Glad we have the forum. I ended up passing on the T1 and bought a Dobyns 734 based on the advice that came from members. Seems to me Bass Pro, Cabela's and Dicks are out to lunch. They want to sell they're own brands now. If the Rod companies out there who refuse to be dictated to and want to keep the independent dealers in business they should have a 5 rod inventory minimum so guys like us can get a look up close. If not they should pay Glen a royalty for every rod purchased by a member based on the advice they've received here.
  9. One of the Toad Manufacturer's I've grown to know recommended the 736 along with two others. I'm sure that's one heck of a rod. Since I have the Lews Magnum One rod I opted for a little lighter rod with some tip.
  10. Here's the best reel advice I can give you. Learn your reels inside and out so you can do your own services. I've had one of my reels to two different techs and they both did a lousy job and I paid for it. I just finished putting one of my reels back together properly. It works as it should now. Now, That's reel advice!
  11. I just bought a rudder for my canoe trolling motor.. I hope to get better steering, straighter tracking and less movement in the wind when casting. I would like to avoid anchoring all the time.
  12. A lot of the lakes near me get treated for weeds. Its non sense in my opinion. I have no idea why those greenies can't mind there own business and leave well enough alone. They're actions are killing fish. This lake is never touched.
  13. That area has proved to be so positive. One explosion after another. My best was a 6 out of there. I had a 10 or so on and lost him. I'll get him soon! The lake is 1400 acres. The North Shore is about 80% of what shows in the picture. The areas with cabomba below the surface and mixed with the junk you see hold the majority of the bass. MY 734 will be here Friday! I can't wait to get it. The moon phase charts show fishing at its best this coming weekend. You all know where I'll be.
  14. I use a Lews Magnum One for heavy cover. I also just bought a Dobyns 734 for throwing toads.
  15. Ok, I'll order the 734 now... Thanks -------------- DONE! Tackle Warehouse 15% off. Great deal!
  16. Ok so I own a Lews Magnum One that's a bit strong in the tip for accurate shorter casting. I use this one primarily for jigs.. It does really well casting frogs and fine with toads on big casts. I also have a 6' St Croix Avid classic 1/4-1 for the really tight area's. So.... the specs on the 733 and 734 are close.. The uses are similar. If I buy the 733 rather than the 734 do you thing I'll be making the wrong decision? Keep in mind spinner baits are part of this equation for me.
  17. How can a rod with a lure weight rating of 3/16-5/8 be in the Medium Heavy family? I would think at a minimum a medium heavy would be 1/4-3/4. Has anyone held a new Lews IM8 T1 rod?
  18. Have you tried a heavier or lighter braid? How did that go?
  19. 15% off on my order. Great deal....! New 6'10" Lews Rod and some toads.
  20. Is there such a reel, any Thoughts?
  21. I used the SS today. It's a knock off of 832 with a bit finer feel. Do I like it bettter than the others? No.. It's just another smooth braid. I'm using braid from 40#-65#. It may be a different story for those who use lighter line.
  22. I've been using Power Pro, 832 and KastKing. They're all tough line with positives and negatives. I bought a spool of SS 50# today. I'll give it a shot for the first time tomorrow. As of now I personally like the 832 the most out of the three of them.
