  1. Do you know which guides will be on them ?
  2. In the mid range the aluminum oxide and alconite are very close. I would think the real difference would be the size, weight or both?
  3. I recently sold an IMX and an Avid 6' rods. Both were well made casting rods but the handles were just to short for my liking.
  4. I bought a Magnum One casting rod last year. It has served me very well. It's great for flipping/punching heavy cover.. Hook sets are just so sweet. It really drives the barbs home!
  5. I moved the guide ring thread to tackle making and edited this thread accordingly. Please re-post your answer/opinion. I have questions... Wayne
  6. Here's a list of guide inserts/rings available. What is the minimum guide insert/ring you would require on your rods? Add line choices for each material in your answer/opinion. Describe the benefits and faults of each insert/ring as you know it. Vickers hardness ratings: Stainless Steel (SS): 400 [b.E.] Chrome: 800-1000 [C.M.] Carbaloy: 1000 [b.E.] Aluminum Oxide: 1200-1400 [b.E., C.M.] Alconite (Fuji): 1300-1500 [Fuji] NanoLite (Titan): 1800 [J.M.] Zirconia: 1000-1400 [M.G.] Zirconia PVD: 1600 [b.E.] SiC: 2200-2400 [b.E., C.M.]
  7. Tell us what you like and why.. For value I see the new Diawa XT and the Lews Custom Lite. I have found the Daiwa online for about $100.00 and the Lews CST Lite for $120.00. Regardless of the suggested list/buy prices both rods seem to be a workhorses you don't have to worry about scaring them.
  8. Lews Custom Speed Stick lite 7'6" frog rod. 3/16-2 $100.00
  9. Not like last year!
  10. I just missed a deal on a rod I was considering. Sold out..
  11. Thx.... What I day it was. 20MPH wind, Cloudy and cold. I got snowed on for 5 minutes.. Not as predicted! I got one two pounder and 3 good size (Snakes) picks... The lunkers were holding really tight. The water temp dropped 10 degrees in a week. water temp was 55. The reeds are turning red.. the Green is about gone. Lots of gray and brown cover. I'll go back later in the week... I want his a-ss.
  12. I'd like to see the Steez Xt...
  13. The winds are right today.. If it warm's up enough I'm going to her house. Rods, reels, line and baits are ready to go.
  14. Why the switch to 832? I've used both lines. Overall I prefer the power pro. The 832 seems to have more friction against the guides.
  15. I can vouch for a Lews Custom Speed Stick, look at the Magnum One, a Serious 7' rod...
  16. I'm a cork fan, I recently came upon a couple of rods I liked that have EVA split grips. The two rods impressed me enough to buy them and forgo the cork. Fortunately they're very comfortable. I think can live with them. If not I'll install full cork in both.
  17. If I take a shot it will be in the 7'6"
  18. I flip fives with ease.. This bass was just to heavy and strong. Plus I only fought with it for 10 feet or so. It wasn't tired at all.. I didn't make it out there today. Hopefully tomorrow..
  19. If I go tat it will be the xt
  20. The flared skeletal sides bite into my hand.. I use Lews tourney pro's and team reels. Both are very comfortable on the ACS for me.
  21. That's good to know.. I'm definitely going to buy one, maybe two. I'm waiting for them to show up in stock at BP or Cabela's so I can choose without any guess work.
  22. Is this reel a ground up design or a knock off? Gear from China can be iffy.. No parts available.. Why take a shot with a 7.2oz no name?
  23. That Tat is a good deal.. I don't like the reel seat on them or I'd have bought a couplea long time ago. The XT looks like a work horse and it has the ACS reel seat. No Bling either, like that too.
  24. I vouch for Mike at Siebert too. Excellent quality and they catch big bass!
  25. Has anyone seen or bought a Tatula XT? Please write a review. add a comparison to the Tatula if possible...
