  1. I like the Abu Garcia Ike rods. If I could just get my hands on one.
  2. Awesome, Have a blast with your new reels. Congrats!
  3. Wow, That combination looks great. It's good to hear the company has it together now. Was it Boyd Duckett who started Carrot Stix ?
  4. The BB1 is a fantastic reel but for a 6'3" rod you really don't need it or its extra size and weight. I use a Lews Team Lite reel on a 6' Daiwa Team IM7 rod for jerk baits. It does a great job casting, the drag is superb and it's light weight and small framed. I've never had a backlash of any kind with it. Give it a look... You could also consider the new Tourney Pro G reel. There's a brand new one in the flea market here on the forum at a great price. It's a lefty. I also have a Lews Magnesium reel which is a lighter version of the Lite. Both are ultra fantastic reels.
  5. Thanks Pal, I'm glad you feel that way.. If a rod is good enough for Mike it's good enough for me. I may just order a few of his rods Monday. They offer all the components I want on a rod other than cork which isn't a deal breaker for me. If anyone else see it differently than rippin-lips let us know.
  6. Just bought a couple SPRO Bronzeye shad to throw tomorrow. Clear Chartreuse a Red Ear and a Neutral Green Popper frog.
  7. Pic looks good... Build it like you see fit. It's your custom. Keep the pics coming.. I enjoy the progress reports too.
  8. Double chrome willow leaf spinner baits with a black skirt. I bend the blade shaft parallel to the hook shank so I can keep them up. I retrieve them a inch under the surface or churning. I'm also still catching with toads. I'm in 2-4 feet of water usually on the north shore, east shores or somewhere in between. I don't start fishing until at least 12:00 this time of year.
  9. I agree.... I'm not building it.. I'm paying the price.
  10. They did build a brand that's for sure. I'm sure they'll hang in there. It's unfortunate they didn't have the right people in place to develop the products here in the USA. Now they're just offering a brand name with a new face.. They aren't Lews or Shimano that's for sure. But they could have been.
  11. I think he's trying to tell you to look at a different rod... maybe it's a favor... I don't know anything about Carrot rods.
  12. The Ike rod's look pretty nice. If you watch his rod video's you'll see he has framed each rod specifically to it's task. Anyone own one? Please post your opinion. Compare it to other rods in the same price range. I don't think Mike is using these rods. In fact I'll bet all the pro's are using custom built rods with sponsor labels on them. What's your take on it?
  13. This build is for a toad/frog rod. Immortal IMMC73HXF RX7 IFS904 7'6"
  14. If you were going to swap out one bearing which would it be?
  15. You're right, my typo... However the Medium Heavy rating of the 5 and the Heavy rating of the 4 has confused many. That was my point. lol
  16. I think you missed my point.. See: "Aside from numbers" in earlier post, and yes, the 5 is a MH rod.
  17. I think it's about time the bass fishing industry start a Lobbyist group. I'm sure the NRA would be glad to offer advice. This is nuts, It's hard to believe it has come to this... To add to this, The invasive weed thing has created what I call swimming pools in my area. The chemicals they're using kill everything.
  18. Aside from numbers... The 4 is a Heavy, the 5 a Medium. Dobyns for an example.
  19. I never kept count but I can tell you it's a lot... I'm in the junk all the time. I've become more of a trophy hunter. A three pounder is of no interest to me...
  20. Sounds good, did you get an email confirmation with a tracking number?
  21. 7 years ago a wise man told me; Sheat runs down hill.. My condolence
  22. I see no way to make comments without breaking forum rules so I'll just add this... It's been to cold and to windy this month.
  23. I found them online a week ago. Great prices... I haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet either. I can tell you if you email them thru the site they will answer you. I got an answer back from them within hours. They appear to be sincere.
  24. It surprised me too. Glad you like your rods.
