Last night I looked online for dealers near me.
Most of them are gone.. Out of business.
I found a small shop that sells Old Town, I'll call them
today. If Old Town offers them I'd take a ride north
to pick them up.
My canoe is fiberglass so I'll need a very narrow dato
on the Gunwhales compared to the royalex which I'm sure
is a bit thicker.
I'm considering doing a re-do on my canoe this winter.
Aluminum Gunwhales would be a priority. Where can I buy them?
I checked Harmony but they don't offer them.
I don't get out on the water that early this time of year.
My first cast is usually at 10:30-11:00. I like 1-6 feet of water with rocky bottoms.
I'll fish til 3:30-4:00..Generally I throw square bills or lipless cranks
Then jigs after I get bit. I like slow steady retrieves to start.
I'll make adjustments accordingly.
If I can find mat cover I'll pitch to it with a 3/8-1/2oz
punch jig and drop it on the open side ect..
Ok so if you see two similar baits on a shelf your interested in
buying and one has the cancer disclosure and the other
doesn't which bait are you going to buy?
They offer a good rod, not the best or worst at each price point. From what I've heard the new 85 is a great rod. I have no experience with it but I trust the person who told me about it.
He was at iCast, he said it was the best new rod at the show.
I'll be on the water throwing whatever it takes to land another lunker. The wind is supposed to calm... It's been nuts for the last month or more. I'm going to Ct. for a change of scenery.
Generally I agree with all of you. I'm not extreme by any
sense of the word. I laugh at California's paranoia.
But, I got to tell ya, being made in the DM has me wondering.
If you know anything about that country you might just agree
with me. It's a lawless dump.
There's a lake in Ct. I fish occasionally. It's loaded with
bass. It's not uncommon to catch a dozen in a couple hours.
About 20% of them will be 3 plus pounds. The balance
mixed.. More importantly at least 20% will be skinny.
It makes sense they should be taken. For me.. It would
have to be a kill. I don't eat them.
Next time I fish there I suppose it's going to be ugly.
As far as price is concerned I think the IKE rod is one of the best rod values out there. If someone is going custom it should be all in.. So yes, I agree.
The Abu Ike is a fantastic Frog and Toad rod.. I never said I wouldn't put the money into a more important rod for sensitivity, a jig rod is going to happen.
I'm leaning towards the immortal blank.
