  1. If I swap out the entire length I'll have to have the trailer realigned. I was trying to avoid doing that. Beyond that I wouldn't be able to keep it stored in my garage. So its not an option.
  2. Not a thing wrong with the Mag it's an amazing reel. I just want to explore the G2 as another possibility.
  3. I have a 5x that has served me well. Whichever finder you decide to buy it will take some time to learn what you see on it and how to set it to get the most information from it. Dollar for dollar at entry level I think the Dragonfly is the best you can get. When I bought I was convinced Lowrance was the best bet. I should have done a bit of research. Ray Marine has come a long way...
  4. Well said
  5. I need three additional reels for next year. I'm a Lews fan. I'm looking at the Team Lite and Magnesium which I own already but I'd like some feedback on the G2 before I make a final decision. Feedback would be appreciated.
  6. I was, I may have to do exactly that. The steel used on the Harbor Freight trailers is thin. I'm not sure the swing away is a possibility. If it is possible the fabrication cost would most likely be very high. The extended ball bar/mount would be the least expensive and work fine.
  7. The swing away tongue would work great if I can get one for a harbor fright trailer. The steel box tube isn't the same dimension as a typical shoreline trailer. I'll look into it. That would be the ticket.
  8. I don't mind getting wet in warmer weather. The deal is I'm tired of wasting time getting the canoe in the water and back in the trailer.
  9. So you were rubbin it. BadBill! lol I know you went thru a bad time, glad you're ok.
  10. Hey Rhino, unfortunately that wouldn't work for me. I need tongue length to get the trailer tires deeper into the water. What I may do is have a 36" straight ball mount made. I'll exchange the mounts at the ramp. Keep in mind this swap out will only be necessary when the lake water levels are down.
  11. I could sleeve the tongue but I was concerned about water between the steel causing rust and it would be to long over all to fit in my garage.
  12. I sold off my crank bait rods. They were good quality rods but I wasn't completely happy with the fit. Let me know the pro's and con's of the rod companies I mentioned and which series rod your describing. I'll be looking for a 6'6" MM and a 7' MHM after the first of the year.
  13. My Harbor Freight trailer has been nothing short of awesome with my canoe on it. However the length of the tongue would be better if it were another 24-36 inches. The reason is, often the lake water levels are down and our ramps don't drop off that deep. I have to go in the water to push the canoe off. it's become a pain in the ass. I'm thinking if I have a ball mount made thats 30 inches long it will give me more length to get the canoe deeper into the water to avoid having to get wet pushing it off. In tow, how much added pressure do you think it would add to the hitch and chassis if I use the proposed extended ball mount?
  14. A shiny new Lews Magnum One showed up at my door step today. Thank You Lews, I appreciate.
  15. I could see buying it if it could fly like the one's they have on Mars.
  16. A-Jay, The Predator looks like a Gheenoe. Nice craft.
  17. I just watched the you tube video of this thing. It's not something I would consider buying.
  18. Cool.. I like watching progress.
  19. Buy the rod you want.. If you settle you'll regret it. Keep in mind The higher priced rod isn't the end all.. If the Tat gets you what you're looking for and its comfortable go for it and put the extra cash into a great reel. I've see as much quality in $150.00 rods as I have in $200.00 rods, even more. I got a couple of Team Daiwa rods. Both were under $100.00. They're extremely light and comfortable. They both cast great and set a hook well. Plenty of guides to. I bought a couple of good rods not a price. I had been looking for a frog/toad rod. There were a couple I considered at $250.00 that I fished with and a few others in the $150.00 price range. The rod I liked best was $150.00. I bought it and haven't looked back.
  20. Sweet rod and reel, you're a smart shopper..
  21. Learn the areas you will find bass in or go to a different lake. Why do you keep doing the same thing? Do you know other bass fishermen who are successful fishing that water? It's possible the bass population in that water is low.
  22. Last year water temps weren't below 50 until January 1st. It's disappointing the 40' water came so early. I may visit a deep water reservoir and go deep for small mouth before I put my gear up. Depends on the weather. It's not looking good.
  23. The bass that showed themselves were in 1-2 feet of water. They were in whatever cover they could find and on the north west side where the water was warmer. I threw t rigged worms, jigs and I took a shot at floating jerk baits and square bills. I also tried spinner baits in 3' areas along the standing reeds. We had 4-5 straight days of cold air and 20 mph winds prior. The water had been 60-63 degrees. The quick temp drop and consistent winds had much to do with the lack of activity. FYI this lake is about 6'-7' deep. There are big Pick and Pike out In the deeper areas. The bass are always in the shallows so going deep wasn't an option.
  24. I agree but the bite was off on everything I threw. The only bit of action I had was on the surface..
  25. I was out for 4 hours today.. Had a few rolls on frogs but no hits.' Water was 47-51 depending on the shore. I'm done for the season.. Winter sucks.
