  1. CI4+ is a great spinning reel. I rarely using spinning reels in freshwater, but it performs well with dropshots and light shaky heads. I use 10 lb to 20 lb braid to a 6 to 8 lbs FC leader. Now I do use the CI+ for most of my inshore fishing for catching reds, snook, and trout. It is an unbelievable inshore reel too.
  2. The PQ was my first baitcaster. I also caught my PB on it. It's a great reel for $50. I have moved on from them to higher end gear, but I have great memories of my old one. Actually passed it on to my dad and it still works great.
  3. I have never had a problem with the torque on my 7:1 or 8:1 daiwas.
  4. I prefer the Dobyns 805cb. Great rod that you can launch crankbaits effortlessly.
  5. I like 7:1 ratios for all my reels except deep cranks. I can always slow down, but you can't always speed up fast enough.
  6. I would go with the 7.3:1 ratio, but I fish with 7:1 + ratios on all my reels except deep cranks.
  7. Lucky Craft LV500 Strike King Red Eye Shad
  8. Yeah. There is not much difference. There is a nicer drag star on the type r and the type r comes in an 8:1 ratio. Other than that they are pretty much the same reel except the color scheme.
  9. Tatulas are the best bang for the buck by far. I use the regular type r. I have a few I still use despite using mostly upper end/enthusiasts gear
  10. My Current Setups For This Year's Trip to El Salto: From left to right: 1. Megabass Orochi XX Tour Versatile paired with a 7:1 Shimano Metanium 2. Megabass Black Jungle Power Versatile paired with a 7:1 2016 Shimano Antares DC 3. Dobyns 735 champion paired with 8:1 Shimano Exsence DC 4. JDM Megabass Orochi XX Pitch Perfect paired with 8:1 Daiwa Steez Limited SV 105xh 5. Dobyns 746 dx paired with 9:1 JDM Zillion TW SV 6. Megabass Diablo Fast Move paired with 7:1 Shimano Metanium MGL 7. Megabass Super Red Demon paired with 7.9:1 SV103 8. Dobyns 805cb champion paired with Shimano Conquest HG 6:1
  11. Megabass x7 diablo fast move Shimano Metanium MGL 7:1 15 to 17 lb co-polymer For the lipless crank itself I like using LV 500 and strike king red eye shad
  12. Megabass super destroyer for a dedicated senko rod
  13. My top pick would be daiwa sv 103sx or megabass i79. I also like daiwa zillion tw sv in 7:1 or higher, 8:1 Tatula, or anot 8:1 helios.
  14. 10 inch berkley power worms!
  15. 765 flip or 746 hp. I use my flip more for throwing larger swim jigs. I use my 746 hp for heavy jigs and some punching. It's a beast of a rod with great sensitivity. I use my 735 champion for frogging only.
  16. I actually use the 6:1 gear conquest for my deep cranking and it does great. If I need to slow down I can force myself to do it, but I have no problems getting the deep divers down with a 6:1 ratio reel.
  17. I use a dobyns 805cb paired with a Shimano Conquest 200 for my deep diving crankbaits. For topwater I just ordered a Megabass Bandersnatch and it will be paired with a 7:1 metanium. I won't use any Frogs on this setup. I have a dedicated frog rod. Dedicated Frogs setup is a Dobyns 735 champion with a Shimano Exsence DC. I also have a Megabass Diablo Fast Move that I use for spinnerbaits and squarebills. It is paired with a Megabass I79.
  18. Dobyns Fury, Dobyns Savvy, Okuma TCS, Daiwa Tatula, Powell Max 3D, used Megabass Levante
  19. Tatula (or one of it'so variants type r, ct, ct type r, ect) or a Curado are your 2 best options. I prefer the tatula type r over the curado.
  20. In no particular order: 1. Dirty Jigs California Swimjig citrus shad 2. Warbaits Spinnerbait white 3. Lucky Craft RTO 2.0 Squarebill Aurora Shad 4. Lucky Craft Pointer Jerkbait in Chartreuse Shad 5. Dirty Jigs flipping jig in Black and blue 6. Keitech Fat Swing Impact in pro blue red pearl 7. GY Senko in watermelon 8. Berkley 10 inch power worm in black and blue 9. RI Beaver in June bug 10. Chatterbait in white and chartreuse
  21. I would try bright colored baits and big baits. Big squarebills, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits with some sort of chartreuse on them. I would also try a large swimjig with a paddletail swimbait as a trailer with colors that match the bluegill or crappie.
  22. I just ask my buddies what I need to bring lure wise. All of them have most stuff, so usually I bring some of my favorite brand/type of tackle. Usually ends up being some jigs, swimjigs, plastics, and some squarebills.
  23. All three have a time and place in my arsenal.
  24. I use Dirty Jigs California Swimjigs, and leave the weed guard on. I fish mine in and around moderate to heavy cover. As for trailers, I use a combo of keitech fat swing impact, RI skinny dippers, GY double tail grubs.
  25. Weightless 4-5 inch senko, zoom fluke, or t-rigged trick worm.
