  1. I use multiple large worms in the summer, usually texas rigged or Carolina rig. I10 inch power worms in black with blue tail, watermelon, and grape. Strike King bull worms in 8 inch and 10 inch in black, geen pumpkin, and watermelon. 7 inch senkos in green pumpkin, watermelon red, and black with blue tip.
  2. Daiwa Steez, Calcutta conquest are my 2 favorites. Zillion SV and Metanium MGL are great reels too.
  3. I would go with a t-rig baits, a top water (frog or popper), and a spinnerbaits. T-rig is my go to if I can't catch anything. It can be used anywhere and anytime. Topwater is a great way to catch bass. A popper may be easier to learn to use than a frog. The hook up ratio is way better with a popper too. Spinnerbaits are easy to use and can be fished all through the water column. They are easy to find in multiple sizes and colors.
  4. I use jigs with trailers, wacky/t-rigged senkos, trick worms, keitechs, blue gill pattern swimbaits. I will try them all and let the bass tell me what is working for the day.
  5. At $250, I would take a look at Dobyns XP series. Their flipping rods are great. I have a 765 flip I use for flipping, pitching, and throwing heavier moving baits (excluding crankbaits and jerkbaits).
  6. I throw my topwater, excluding frogs, on a Megabass Destroyer Bandersnatch. For my jerkbaits I throw them on a dobyns xp 705cb.
  7. I use a Dobyns 805cb paired with a Shimano Conquest 200hg and I use a Megabass Diablo Fast Move x7 paired with a Shimano Metanium for my shallow and lipless cranks.
  8. Any recommended boat size for the river? I am looking for places to bas fish around St. Simons Island. I do have a Crestliner PT20 which is 20 ft long. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't too big for the river.
  9. I recently used the dredger down in El Salto. Did a pretty good job getting down deep and staying down. Caught plenty of 4 to 8 lb fish, while down there on it.
  10. I throw all my senkos, wacky and t-rigs, on a Megabass Super Destroyer phase III paired with a steez sv ltd (casting) unless I am trying to skip some docks. Then I sometimes will use a dobyns 703 dx paired with a shimano ci4 (spinning).
  11. I have one paired with a nrx. I use it for pitching lightweight baits and for t-rigs. Awesome reel. I also have the sv103 LTD that I use for senkos.
  12. How is the brackish water on your boat and motor? I have a crestliner pt 20 with a mercury 200 and a minn kota Fortex. Should I worry about it messing up anything?
  13. I live in South GA. I am looking to fish somewhere this week. I just got a new bass boat and Doctors Lake is not to far. Anyone ever fish here? Any pointers here? Is the water brackish? Any limits on motor size on a boat? Any other suggestions on places to fish. Thank you for your input
  14. I use them too. I have used multiple brands Columbia, Cabelas, and Huk. All get the job done.
  15. I use Rio Ricos and Megabass pop max.
  16. I bought one of the Huk combos a few months ago during a sale. I have yet to wear it in the rain. I live in south Georgia, and it has not rained much at all since i have bought it. I have put it on and it is very light and seems well built.
  17. I use either big game or co-polymer.
  18. Great reel. I have the older model in the 4000 size that I use for inshore fishing for reds and trout.
  19. Yeah cork will deteriorate faster when getting it set or just using over time. I use U-40 cork sealer. Makes it easier to clean too.
  20. I throw mine on Lexa 300, and for bigger baits I use a Shimano Conquest 400.
  21. Shimano Conquest 200 hg paired with a dobyns 805cb for me.
  22. I use rod condoms and tackle warehouse reel covers on all my set ups. I also put a bait wrap on. If my handle is cork, I use cork sealer.
  23. I would go with a tatula or a curado for that price. Like the above post you can get them from $100 to $130 on the big auction site (according to model). I am not a big Abu fan so I don't have any input on those models you ask about.
  24. I have a the conquest and MGL. I don't have a Steez aluminum, but have 2 other Steez reels. The Conquest is smoother than the MGL to me. I use my Conquest for moving baits including small swimbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, topwater, and crankbaits. I use my Steez for flipping, pitching, Texas rig, and jigs. MGL is used as an all around, but I like my conquest and Steez the best.
  25. I have the coated ones on my reels, but I have 2 reels with a hawgtech handle with cork handles with no clear coat. I did treat the non-clear coated ones with cork seal.
