  1. I bought a bass raider with no paper work. Anyone know how I can get it registered in ny? Want to put a motor on it and go to kinderhook and saratoga with it.
  2. Well I don't think I will be throwing anything over 2oz with it. So looking for something not as over the top as the rod I have.
  3. I mean I have spent 400 on a tuna jigging rod. Dosent seem necessary for a bass rod tho... haha I am thinking the smaller size duck and trout for this setup. I already have the heavier rod for the bigger baits. Would like to keep it under $150 for the rod. I have not tried the swimbait rod i have for frogs. Hollow body frogs I have seem way to light to throw with that setup. Here it is hanging on the wall. Think that's an 8" line thru trout. Makes a good decoration! Haha
  4. I actually have that rod for my BIG swimbaits! The 8" and12" line thru trout. Very nice rod! Only conventional rod i have.
  5. Looking for a rod to throw savage gear line thru trout. Suicide ducks. Maybe some frogs. Use mainly spinning gear for everything. Even up to blue fin tuna on cape cod. But may be open to trying a conventional setup. What would be a good rod for this?
  6. So my nice fenwick elite tech bass MH 7' rod and my st croix triumph 6'6 medium broke the other day. Lets just say a certain female put them in the bed of the truck instead of the back of the truck.... maybe I should have been more specific? Anyways. Replaced the triumph with a 7' Avid X medium fast. Wondering what would be a good replacement for the fenwick. I want something i can throw swimbaits. Savage gear line thru trout usually. So up to like 1.5oz bait. I have heard great things about the dobyns champion XP but they only come in 1 piece rod. Would really prefer a 2 piece rod. Any suggestions?
  7. So ever since I bought my boat last year the steering is really hard. So I know the cables are junk I just have no idea what I need. It's a 1987 skeeter starfire 175-D with a johnson gt 150 motor. It has dual cables that go up to weird looking pulleys? under the steering wheel. Anyone know if there's a kit I can buy and have any advice on changing these out?? I have a forklift but need to know where to lift engine from. Thanks!
  8. LookING for a nice striper rod for boat fishing. Picked up a penn slammer 560l live liner reel so need a rod to match to it. Never striper fished before this year but after catching a 39" 24.5lb fish I am hooked! So any suggestions for a rod that would work well with this reel would be great! Mostly boat fishing with live herring in the hudson near albany. Occasionally the Cape boat fishing as well. Price range is under 100 Thanks!
  9. Fin I was in a smaller lake. Off the weed beds in maybe 6ft of water.
  10. Any ideas how I can use a steal leader with these?
  11. Well 2nd one tonight. 4lbs 3oz. Then big pike bit off my trout! Ughhh good thing I already ordered a couple more!
  12. My finnesse? Well to catch this oNE I just casted. Waited a few seconds to let it sink a bit. And smooth retrieve. Just reeled right in to make it swim. Sometimes I will pause after a couple cranks. Have had good luck doing that with banjo minnows. Figured it might get the same strike on this but no luck yet.
  13. Got my first fish on a swimbait the other night. Bought the savage gear line thru trout beginning of season but only have thrown it a handful of times. Decided that the other night was the night. So going from only really fishing senkos to a swimbait let me just say the hit was amazing! Instant BAM then drag zing in out. Talk about getting your heart racing! Especially with my drag it doesn't really go unless it's a bigger fish (4+lbs). Was very lucky that I got the fish in the boat you can see in the one pic it was barley hooked when I got her on! Think I caught that swimbait fever tho! 5lb 8oz. Great first swimbait fish! Probably my second biggest fish of all time as well!
  14. Woah! Thanks for all the responses. Guess I got a few good names to research now!
  15. So have gotten used to my okuma swim bait rod. Looking to try out a smaller, light weight baitcasting setup. Would like to keep it under $300 if possible. But $400 would be max. Wondering what a good rod and reel would be? I mainly fish weightless 6" senkos Texas rigged for largemouth bass. I fish a lot of weeded areas. Lilly pads and underwater grass beds. I really like my st croix spinning rods. But do not have a lot of experience with many different rods and am open to try other options. So any thoughts would be great!
  16. Oh! Portable. I bring the battery inside after use.
  17. Need a new deep cycle smart charger. Mine is making some crazy noises. Dosent sound good. Have a class 27 deep cycle marine battery. only requirements is that its a smart charger aka turns off when battery is charged. Any suggestions?
  18. It is listed in the for sale section. $130 used twice.
  19. That was exactly what I was thinking about making! I was going to just find a soft rubber hose and make something, but for $6 why not?? haha Thanks! Hopefully this will fix it!
  20. Hmm. Maybe I should just get my avid and keep the fenwick for something other then snekos? lol
  21. Trying to figure out why this is happening. When I fish with my st croix triumph M with pflueger president reel I have no pain. When I fish with my fenwick elite tech bass MH with Pflueger supreme reel I get pain in the fingers that the reel handle is in between, (Middle and ring) The Fenwick does have a split handle. Maybe its just the way the Fenwick holds the reel and it just dose not mesh with my hand? Really like the rod otherwise. But can't fish for more then about half hour without pain. Any ideas for solutions? Maybe some styrofoam around the reel handle? Ugh. Maybe just get a new rod? haha I am thinking st croix avid. Worried it might be because of the split handle tho. Or maybe just the fenwick. No idea.
  22. I have only used a bait caster for 1 season is all. I use fireline on all my spinner reels. But read its not good for baitcaster. Mono is supposed to be easiest to start with from what I have read.
