I'm hoping on getting out soon here too weather permitting. I was trying to find a club but it seems without a boat most turn the cold shoulder. Oh well, maybe I'll find a good fishing buddy in 2015. Either way I don't mind, I have no problem with it being just me, the boat, and my gear. Typically I rent from fountainhead and bring my own trolling motor.

I've learned I know nothing about Fountainhead the few times I've been out. My 10 yr old nephew was in town this weekend and we went out for 4 hours today. I didn't catch a single thing but there were some (club?) anglers in what looked like a tourney who had some nice ones dragged in. Maybe I'll have better luck next year. Picked up a topographical map so I could study the area more. I'm like Chopo and only have a minn kota so I tend to rent John boats. Patience is key I guess.... Edit: P.S. If anyone wants a fishing partner going into next year I'm game. I have a little one due in January but everything should be calmer going into the fishing season Lol

Went out Sunday from about 7am to 10am. Dink and a nicer one that threw the hook about a foot from the boat. Got those two on rubber worms, no luck on the crankbaits. Only my 3rd time there but liking it more each weekend. Two Questions 1. I'm newer to Virginia, how long is the typical fishing season? (I'm from up north so I'm used to the cold kinda ending it since everything freezes) 2. I would like to meet people to fish with. Any clubs in the area anyone could recommend? I've applied here http://www.another siteanglers.com/About.html (since they are close to me) but the guy is horrible with response times and very dodgy. I'm just looking for good people to enjoy the sport with. Any opinions appreciated. Thanks guys.

I will be tomorrow. This will only be my 3rd visit to the reservoir since moving here so I'm still getting a feel for it. Last two visits I didn't catch much, but I'm sure that will change over time as I familiarize myself to it. Edit: Turns out I won't the wife got called into work. Oh well, I guess there is next week.

Thanks BP. Info helps. I don't know anyone in the area so I don't have buddies to fish with. I emailed a local club inquiring about membership but they haven't replied.

Anyone gone out today? I was thinking about heading to the reservoir tomorrow morning.

Hello, Just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to fishing in this area (currently live in Dale City). Any pointers, etc. are helpful. I was at the occoquan reservoir yesterday off a bank near the dock. Interested in any good areas the region may offer for Bass fishing. Thanks, and hope to see some members around

Welcome! I'm new here too and don't know the area very well. I went to Leesylvania State Park today but didn't have any luck near the pier. I'm also looking for good spots.

Thanks. I don't have a boat, maybe someday lol. I was looking for something close, but if it's worth it travel would be ok. I used to live by Fort Belvoir and would go on post frequently.
