  1. Thanks guys! Thats what I was hoping to hear!
  2. Touchdowns and homeruns, what the hell is LSU playin now? My favorite LSU memory would have to be last year, Nov 23, McFadden running for 206 yds, 3 tds and throwing a td...and the Hogs beatin LSU 50-48 in triple OT.... Oops sorry
  3. This may sound stupid but reading all these posts about more expensive reels has me a little curious about MY reel. I got this about a year ago and have always thought it was good, but now I'm wondering if maybe it isnt. Has anyone used it? How does it compare to reels a little more expensive?
  4. Im so mad. I was in TX and it was about 95 the entire time I was there even when it was cloudy and raining. Here in CA it was about 65, then I come back and its 85. Figures.
  5. Not a lure, but there was a commercial for awhile for a tiny telescoping fishing pole that looked like a pen. I thought it was hilarious.
  6. Ive only fished Senkos a few times, but i was on a stained lake when it was overcast and raining on and off using color 302 which is a red with red/black flakes and they were hitting it like crazy.
  7. Ive had 1.5lb bass fight harder than 3lbers, and my PB, although pretty close to the boat, felt like i was pulling in a rock or something but it didnt strip any drag until it jumped near the boat. I think it really depends on the weather and mood of the fish, and I'm sure bigger LM arent that fast anyway.
  8. Am I the only one who thinks it looks...i dunno...pointy? I'm sure its an amazing reel and if I had the money i'd buy one...it just looks kinda jagged.
  9. No. Every time ive tried it it either got me more snagged, or i noticed no difference. I usually just pull different directions and that works well enough.
  10. .....so i just placed an order with them last night for 90 bucks....hahahaha son of a!
  11. Hey man, I dont know where you are in Oregon. I used to live in Ashland and I used to take trips to a place called Lake of the Woods. It had great trout fishing and tons of water to cover with good camp sites. Also, the Klamath river is great even if you dont catch a thing. You dont gotta catch bass to have a good time, and Id say 75% of the times i've gotten to go bass fishing, I almost always fish for something else at some point. Hope everything works out for you and keep asking for tips!
  12. I know people who smoke (and i dip) and have never noticed a scent problem. One thing I noticed was you saying your kids friends bring home loads of bass. Bass is a pretty boring fish to eat, and most bass fishermen practice catch and release so others can catch these fish in the future. Just somethin to think about if you plan on keeping your legal limit
  13. Yeah you dont want to let them run. Also, if you're using plastic worms you need to move them yourself, because unlike real worms, they wont move on their own.
  14. Ive always played cards or bet money lines or point spread which im bad at. I've never bet a parlay bet, how do you do it?
  15. Knowing when you have a bite depends on what you're fishing for and what you're using to catch them. If you're using a worm and a bobber, knowing when you have a bite is pretty easy. If you're fishing something else, its harder sometimes. A lot of people who have been fishing since they were kids still dont always know. I sure dont. Personally, when in doubt, I set the hook. To set the hook, you basically want to pull the pole from about a 8 or 9 o clock position to a 1 or 2 or 3 o clock position as fast as you can. Itll force the hook into the fishes mouth (hopefully.) after that, if hte fish is hook, reel in the slack while dropping your rod and keep tension on the line until you reel the fish in. What are you fishing for, and what are you fishing with?
  16. I threw my entire huge bankroll on a money line with TB over LAA tonight. Might be sittin pretty with almost 30 cents in about 5 hours!
  17. I usually refer to a jig with a trailer as "a jig" and just the head and a hook as a jig head.
  18. Hmmm I just signed up and I'm gunna try. How much did you get for signing me up?
  19. If you watch the interviews with bass pros (there are some good ones on this site) youll notice a lot of pros will tell you its less about fishing at that point and more about selling yourself to the companies, and selling the product to the customers. Plus being fun to watch on tv. You could be an amazing fisherman but if you have a bad personality and people dont want to watch you, you arent going to be able to sell yourself to a company.
  20. Since I only have one reel and rod and use it for everything, I've stuck with Spiderwire XXX supermono 14lb. Its thin enough, and strong enough. Now, that being said, I have some Siege on order, but its also 14lb. Ive never broken 14lb and on snags ive always had to cut it. Before I bass fished I noticed a lot of people never bother to set their drag up correctly based on the lb test they are using, on any kind of fish. You can catch a 20lb fish on 8lb test if your drag is set right and you play it long enough and it doesnt smash through rocks and snags.
  21. I'd be curious to know as well. I tie a palomar on pretty much everything unless i do a reverse cinch on something very small. Its worked for me but seems to slip on spinnerbaits.
  22. Spotted have smaller mouths. Also color, but thats harder to do without comparison.
  23. if I were to add some shaky head stuff to this list, what would people recommend? I've never fished shaky head jigs before.
  24. Hahahah. Ropes are the best. I just fish ANY area until I feel like im wasting my time.
  25. Well I have a lot of senkos and I'm buying some *** stuff, and I have some frogs, but I do need to consolidate the worms!
