  1. Haven't had my dobyns dx742sf for very long but I can already tell it's going to be one of my favorite rods. Perfectly balanced, sensitive, good backbone with a perfect tip for finesse presentations. Unfortunately Im not a fan of dobyns styling, otherwise it'd be the perfect spinning rod
  2. Had a great experience with Japan Lure shop. Great prices and fast shipping
  3. Shame about the price increase. Still a great value and one of the best rods in that price point.
  4. Last October, me and my buddy caught the same fish within an hour of each other. We knew it was the same one because it had a deformed lateral kink down its body.
  5. Definitely go on USPS and print out a shipping label. Much cheaper than anywhere I've looked including the post office haha
  6. Oh boy. Impulse bought an aldebaran bfs xg. So obviously i need a rod to pair with it. I guess a phenix recon2 713ML is also on the way.
  7. 4" Senko wacky rigged is deadly for me
  8. I have a Dobyns DX742sf on the way and I'm super excited.
  9. Picked up a Helium 3 casting rod recently to celebrate getting a new job. Unfortunately working full time doesn't give me much time to fish any more...
  10. Okuma Guide Select swimbait rod Kistler Z-bone ... and a double digit! Or just the double digit fish.
  11. It wasn't my most productive technique, but dragging a football jig was hands down my most favorite technique. I love slowly feeling the bottom composition. I love the anticipation of the bass thumping the jig. And most of all I love setting that hook. Before I got confident with the jig I was mostly fishing a drop shot and that wimpy lift hook set is just no comparison.
  12. Snagged this guy at the lake yesterday so now I need a setup to throw him on
  13. Works great as a jig trailer too
  14. I agree with these two. 25VIPCASH coupon code for $25 off gets it right in your price range. I like my KLX much better than my avid
  15. 45 Siebert jigs?! That's awesome
  16. I like the quickdrops weights. They're cheap and work well
  17. I love my LTB 610MLXF with a Saros, but hoping to upgrade to the Stradic Ci4+
  18. My buddy has both and he says the M1 has a bit faster taper than the recon 2. I haven't fished either but I love the way the recon 2 looks
  19. First step down a very expensive road..
  20. In my own experiences, the *** jigs worked very well at not getting hung up in brush piles and lay downs. I didn't notice a huge difference in hang up rates in the rip rap where I fish, but I'm convinced that those rocks will eat up anything I throw at it. I have not tried the *** football jigs there though just the normal head. Also, I fish from the bank so that probably doesn't help either. I like the *** jigs a lot, but for my applications I prefer a cheaper football jig like the bass patrol.
  21. So my replacement rod was shipped out of Texas today. Here's a quick timeline to help visualize the warranty procedure: November 13th: Rod broken, warranty claim filed, and warranty claim response received November 14th: Shipped out handle of broken rod ($6.65 priority with usps vs ~$20-25 to ship entire rod) November 17th: Kistler received broken rod November 18th: Replacement rod shipped out Overall, I'm impressed and relieved with my first ever experience submitting a warranty claim with any of my rods. Although it's not as convenient as an over the counter replacement, it beats some of the other warranties for my other rods. For example, St Croix would have me pay for shipping both ways (~40 dollars total), and if they deem the breakage to be outside the scope of faulty craftsmanship there is an additional fee to replace or fix the rod. I always feel that when I have already spent a good amount of money on a product, I don't want to pay any more for a replacement for a problem that was beyond my control. I am okay with the amount I had to spend to get a replacement rod with Kistler. I guess the only downside of Kistler's warranty is the short time periods in which they cover, but hopefully any manufacturing defects will show themselves early on. Hopefully my experience might ease some minds of prospective buyers who have read about shaky service from Kistler.
  22. Thanks guys. So far so good. I filled out the warranty form on their website, and got an email from a representative (I think it might have been automated though). I had to cut the handle and label section of the blank and ship that back to them. I'm pretty happy because this only cost me about $7.00, and the email said that the replacement would be at no cost to me. On the other hand, I have a feeling that the claim still has to be approved. The rod broke at the fourth guide from the top right below the epoxy. Not sure what caused it as I was throwing a jig that was well within the lure rating and I have never over loaded the rod. Anyways, desmobob I didn't mean to hijack your thread, but I thought that this was relevant and can be useful for you and others to know.
  23. So my KLX snapped today. On the cast! I guess we'll soon see how their service and warranty holds up. Wish me luck
  24. I recently ordered a spool from them. If I recall correctly, it took under a week.
  25. You're gonna be very happy with the KLX. I have the 7' MHF TCRWJ paired with a tatula and a curado i and it's a blast to fish with. I really like the curado over the tatula, but it's hard to beat the tatula for the prices you can find them for.
