  1. FC sinks, I throw mine with Mono, but its not a pause type bait, but a steady retrieve. Try it and see how it goes - might be that you have to reel it too fast to keep it up, but again try it out.
  2. Anyone fish this bait before by chance? Wondering if its more wake bait or more like a Manns 1-. Thanks.
  3. Very interesting, this is a top 3 crankbait for me. I have one that has probably 30-40 fish on it and other than the normal wear and tear looks great.
  4. Sniper IMO is the best bang for the buck when it comes to FC. I have Tatsu on 2 rods and LOVE love love it, but it certainly is pricey!!!!!!!!!!! Give sniper another try.
  5. Expensive but the best hook I have found for weedless wacky rig. I use both the unweighted and 1/16 revision. Don't think I've ever missed a fish due to the weed guard - but I may have and just never known. http://www.falconlures.com/Weighted-Hooks_c11.htm
  6. I'm fairly similar to A-Jay on this one. I throw my chatterbaits on a Loomis 855C (MH). I also use it for traps 1/2oz+. I have 30lb DSB on mine.
  7. Bobber stopper, if you want to. Some peg, some don't.
  8. I've been wanting to grab one myself. Maybe one of the sales over the holiday.
  9. Blue missed the blue hint!!! Congrats on number 2!
  10. Greetings all, Haven't been on much or fishing as much as I would like, but the young ones come first. So I am thinking about pulling the trigger on the new Dobyns Champion XP Swimbait Rod 7'9" Med Hvy. I haven't really thrown true swimbaits much before. Few questions: I seem them listed as floating, slow sink or fast sink. Is the floating bait more a like a wake bait or just under the surface? Then slow vs fast I would think is more where in the water column you want to fish and how fast of a retrieve? Bonus help - any suggestions on some $20-50 baits. I have a MS Slammer and a Bucca Shad and a S-Waver 168 already. Thanks!
  11. I fished a club tourney April 15-17th, Sunday being the tournament. Knowing where you are launching would help. We launched out of Rudds. We fished - Rudds, Grassy and Eastland. Rudds (for us did not produce much) but a few small ones. Grassy produced in the back creeks - we assumed males coming for spawn, mostly smaller fish. Eastland produced most of our fish and best fish. We fished rocky points. I caught all my keepers but 1 on a C-Rig. Shakey Head & cranks also produced in days other than Sunday. Good Luck.
  12. I have the XG C3000SFI and it has cheap mono backing with 10lb Tatsu.
  13. Since, we're doing handle upgrades.
  14. Agreed, I have straight FC, Mono, Braid, Braid with FC leader - all for different applications. Try sniper probably the best FC for the money - IMO.
  15. I have both a M/M and a MH/M that I use for cranks. I throw all my squarebills and some medium divers on the M/M and anything else on the MH/M (or if I'm fishing crazy cover, also one of my lipless rods). While I do throw FC on my M/M I use sniper, but there is no need for Tatsu money, IMO. Also, hybrid or mono is great too (Sunline Defier Armilo) for cranking applications.
  16. I just bought my first 8+ ratio reel. A Met DC XG, it is on my primary jig/t-rig rod. I just got it this winter so my first outing with it will be Friday and Saturday. Obviously IPT are more important than gear ratio. I went with it for these techniques to reel in slack and to help pull a fish away from cover. I also will use it to flip/pitch and the faster I get it back the more casts I can make.
  17. Anyone hit the Potomac recently, I am prefishing for a club tournament Friday for Saturday. What was water temps and water clarity?
  18. Received 2 in the Chameleon Pearl 1/4oz size Friday, I also order 2 of both Gilly and Perch but they are super back ordered. I'm going out Friday, so Ill try to throw them.
  19. My choice is the Lazer Trokar Tournament Tube Hook as well.
  20. I love both my cores, but I do like the my 50 better. But I REALLY love my metaniums. Tough call, IMO, you can't go wrong with either.
  21. There are a bunch. I've personally purchased from - Digitaka, JLS, Samurai Fishing, bass.jp, and Japan Angler. It mostly comes down to who has what in stock for me sometimes. Some rods are just hard to come by, or are produced in 'runs' and once sold out you have to wait to wait for the next round. That's what I had to do with my Ultima. Paid for it then 3 weeks later it was shipped after the next run was made.
  22. Bill Murphy think's it does. I personally haven't been fishing long enough and or been paying attention long enough to form an opinion.
  23. Can't help you on where its made, but it was my best producing squarebill last year - that's all I care about. They catch fish! Good luck on them.
