  1. Thanks and from the few articles and things I've read and seen this is 100% correct.
  2. As I stated in a post a week or so ago I am hoping at some point this winter to purchase a SOT Kayak (leaning towards an ATAK120, pending funds). Few of many to come questions: I have a dodge Ram 1500 with a 6' bed - what are my options for transportation? Hooks set - any changes you had to make? Is it hard to get enough power behind it when fishing a stout hook like with a jig? Flipping and Pitching - is it possible while seated or does one have to stand? How important is a rudder - does it depend on if one is fishing a lake, river, etc? When fishing in a river an anchor is necessary right? That's all for now. Thanks!
  3. @A-Jay is a good dude as most know and I can say with confidence he knew you were joking and also feel he was joking back!
  4. Mend-it
  5. Poor Boy tubes are my favorite.
  6. Sorry was away Fishing Fri-Sun. I guess I have read/heard enough good things about it. I would like to know any things you don't like or that could be better.
  7. Speaking of that, I've read somewhere (on here???) It might be true...
  8. That would certainly be wonderful!!! Thank you!
  9. I certainly will, you have an ATAK 140 - correct (or at least I thought I read you did) or maybe it was @flyfisher . Care to comment on it at all?
  10. I went back and forth and I guess I still am on Kayak vs Canoe. But in the end (probably 95+%) of the time it will just be me. Like I said I also was worried about them in a canoe/kayak anyway. So that's what is leaning me to the ATAK. But I will certainly take a look at the recommendations.
  11. Agreed, not any stores close, but I think it's a must to do before making such a big purchase.
  12. Different
  13. I am looking to purchase a SOT kayak for next year. I thought about a canoe so one of my boys (fairly young) could come along but after some discussion on here wasn't too keen on the stability with my boys. So after some preliminary research I looked hard at the Feelfree Lure 11.5, Jackson Kayak CUDA 12, and the ATAK 140. I then found out this winter Wilderness will be releasing the 120. I have read some past posts on people experience with the 140 but would love to hear anything else anyone wants to share their opinion on it with me. My uses are 80% of the time a small ~250 acre lake. 10% Creeks on the Potomac (calm days). 10% Juniata and Susquehanna river. How would the 120 handle these situations.
  14. Daiwa Samurai Braid, although I would like to try Smackdown.
  15. I have a GLX 855 CBR that I currently have 30lb braid on, I throw lipless crankbaits (1/2oz+) on it, medium diving cranks, and chatterbaits (not as often as I bought another rod to use for them recently, but it will still get the call at times I'm sure). I like the braid on it, just thinking about changing it up - no real reason why, just have always wanted to try one of the copoly lines. Anyone throwing lipless cranks with Yo-Zuri Hybrid? Would it do well with ripping it free out of the grass, to much stretch? I was wondering how you liked or disliked it for this application? Thoughts on lb test, I was thinking 12 or 15 as it has a higher than rated braking strength.
  16. I have 3 rods that get the nod for those applications all depends on what the others are needed for. They have 30, 40, & 55lb Daiwa Samurai braid on them.
  17. I use the Yamamoto Flappin Hogs, SK Rage Bug (or Rage Craw) primarily, for my T-Rig & flipping and pitching to moderate cover. I know they are simply SK version of the sweet beaver. Anyone have both that they can post a picture of next to each other? How thick is the Rodent? Looking to add a another creature bait into the mix and the sweet beavers aren't as soft as I would like - durability isn't an issue as I use the crap out of the Flapping Hogs - but they are now $1.45ea. I read the Rodents are a softer plastic do you find this to be true? Thanks!
  18. That Pop-X collection that @rippin-lips posted in the bait monkey page is pretty crazy.
  19. Yes, that one page does work for some reason, but try clicking the home button...
  20. I wonder if they are/went under or possibly sold to another company. Their website has been down a little while and TW doesn't carry any products anymore.
  21. Are you talking about the 4100 and the 5168?
  22. Any recomendations on a straight shank hook to try? I'll buy a pack or 2 at the TW sale this weekend.
  23. I love my Met DC XG!!!!
  24. No, makes a ton of sense. Thank you!
  25. So as I better myself as an angler I have a question for you BR. So this weekend (Fri-Sun) we basically pitched & flipped to laydowns (wood) ALL weekend. Tourneament day - Sunday, we caught all our fish that we weighed in a 400 yd stretch of laydowns. Most were up very tight to cover, but a few were maybe 3-5' off the bank. In this situation would it be better to use a EWG hook or a straight shank flipping hook - not the crazy heavy duty ones - but a 'normal' strength one. Ex - Mustad Denny Brauer Grip Pin Max Flippin' Hook. I would flip the bait work it about 5' then flip again. I was using a 3/16 or 1/4oz weight. No pads or grass to get through, jsut wood. Is it personal preference or is one better than the other in this situation?
