  1. What are the advantages (if there are any) of adding a longer handle to a baitcaster? I was looking around at hawgtech among others and was just curious.
  2. Thanks for all the replies, it looks like it should work great for my applications. Hopefully (for me) TiNuts just got an odd one - hope its an easy fix for you.
  3. I am looking to pull the trigger on this reel in the 7.6 gear. It will be mostly used for 3/8-1/2oz weight range. Primarily jigs, spinner & buzz baits, as well as the occasional top water baits - poppers, spooks, frogs, etc. Just looking to hear from people that own or have used one and see what you think of it. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the replies. I use the TroKar tournament hooks for a lot of my tube fishing but was thinking it may rip these up alot being as I have heard they were pretty soft to start. I'll try a few out and see what works for me.
  5. I really like to fish tubes and bought my first pack or Ikas and Hydras. What size and hooks do you use. I bought the 4" ika and both 3 & 4" hydra. I was thinking about using Owner twist lock. Thoughts?
  6. Thanks for all the feedback. I think I'll grab a spool of both InvizX & AbrazX for now and start there. Since I never have used FC I'll skip out on Tatsu for now many in a year or so.
  7. While I am of no help to the original questions - this however was wonderfully entertaining.
  8. So I have never used Fluorocarbon (don't shoot) before and starting looking around at various products - specifically Seaguar, simply because many on this forum seem to use/talk about it. My questions is: what are the differences in their product lines - better abrasion resistance, sensitivity, strength? Besides pricing (see below). Using 6lb test - pricing from TW. Red Label - 250 yds - 10.99 InvizX - 200 yds - 16.99 AbrazX - 200 yds - 17.99 Tatsu - 200 yds - 36.99 Is Tatsu really worth over 3x the Red Label? Any comments or recommendations appreciated.
  9. So I just wanted to update and say that while I wasn't planning buying a rod this soon I found a deal on another forum I just couldn't pass up. I ending up buying a practically brand new NRX 893C. She hasn't been put to work yet - but soon enough. I think I am going to pair her with a Core 50MG7. Thanks for everyone's input. I like it when people that ask for suggestions give updates on what they decided.
  10. If the bite is on, the bite is on.
  11. I'd be interested on how this plays out (from Abu's end) please keep us posted.
  12. Thanks for adding something meaningful to the thread. Actually, regarding the weight of the reel - I was told from the previous owner that the rod balances really well with a reel under 8oz so I was looking to get a similar size reel. Sorry it took so long to respond I had to take a few breaks to rest my delicate arms.
  13. So although I really like to throw 3/8oz (or less) Bullet weight on my soft plastic - I'm still not sure under what situations to peg and when to let it be free. Or how it affects the bait. I know there may not be a perfect answer but just any tips would be great.
  14. I am certainly not set on any of those, I was leaning towards the Shimanos and saw the Diawas on sale. I also was looking at Abu Garcia - but there are just so many choices.
  15. I just purchased this rod (from a fellow member) and am heading to the tackle shop next weekend to pair it with a reel. I was thinking one of the following: CH200E7 CH150CI4HG TDZLN100SHA - currently at a nice price at TW little on the heavy side - wanted to keep it under 8oz but we will see T3-1016SH - currently at 54% off at TW Any thoughts on what would be a nice reel to pair with it - I will bring the rod to see what feels great just looking for some reviews, experience. Also - anyone know why lots of Daiwa reels are on sale - new models for 2015?
  16. Thanks for all the great suggestions, I have some research to do. My goal is to start and try to figure out the next couple rods I want to buy and keep a look out for them in the market place and similar places.
  17. I think they are $8 or 9 normally. Yes they sure are pricey.
  18. Looking for a higher end rod, used for the following: Weightless to 1/4oz Bullet weight - Senko, brush hogs, kreature, beavers, etc Weightless To 1/4oz Swim bait hook - impact FAT mostly and other soft paddle tail Various plastics behind different jig heads up to 1/4oz Possibly up to 3/8oz if that wide of a range can be had. Looking at G Loomis, Dobyns, or St Croix. Spinning or Baitcasting. thanks for any input.
  19. Love love love the Impact fats. beaver style baits - weightless to lightly weighted (really loving the rage structure bug right now) Chatterbait - but square bill cranks are close
  20. Thanks for all the replies - looks like in certain situations it works great. I didn't even realize that line weight would affect the depth.
  21. 2 Questions lets just use a DT10 as an example. What if I fished it in 8' of water would it just ride along the bottom. Same question but in only 4 feet of water? Just curious. Sorry for the probably dumb question - this is my first season really getting into them.
  22. I am looking to get into these 2 techniques next year and will be looking to buy some new rods specific to these. For these techniques what do you prefer and why? Pro's or Con's. Thanks!
  23. The problem with that video is 90% of the time I get snagged under the water. I might try the guitar or spark plug method.
  24. I did find one video that shows a similar technique.
  25. This is a good post from just a couple days ago. I will say that I am pretty new to fishing, but I bought and used a couple Zman then a couple months ago bout a half dozen D&M and IMO they are far superior and like them a lot. FYI TW has the old Swim Jigs on sale as the #2 just came out. http://www.***.com/DM_Custom_Baits_Piranha_Swim_Jig/descpage-DMPR.html
