  1. Thanks for all the replies, it looks like that the Super is too large and the magnum would be the way to go.
  2. A question for you boaters mostly or co-anglers, do you think a cabelas Super Magnum bag is ok to bring? I haven't seen them in person but the specs are 27"L x 12"W x 14"H. I am looking to buy one but want opinions on whether you think it is too large of a bag to bring for a co-angler. Thanks, Matt
  3. I'm a plant dork and Dypsis is my favorite genus.
  4. It's nice and light (which was important to me) and obviously since its fresh out of the box super smooth. I really like the silver and black - although I know it doesn't affect its ability to catch fish but an added bonus. My only potential worry is line capacity - it only lists 2lb/153yds and 3lb/109yds. I will most likely put 8lb floro on it and will have to see what it holds. I've only had it a few hours but first impressions like you said seems like a great reel.
  5. Look what came in the mail today! http://imgur.com/72Qcc6Q Thanks for all the input. Ready to test it out.
  6. I am almost done with Bass Wisdom and In Pursuit of Giant Bass should hopefully be waiting for me at home after work today. It looks like Spoonplugging will be next!
  7. Love this bait, it was probably my most successful bait this year. I primarily fish it T rig it, but it can be used so many ways, the legs have crazy action. RW - had success on a Jika Rig - so I'm going to try that next year and see how it produces.
  8. It seems as though a 6.x:1 is the best option. Thanks for all input, love this site!
  9. A 6 might be the way to go with a 26 IPT- I certainly want something to be able to catch up to the slack while fishing jerkbaits as LCM said.
  10. In what way was the rod too sensitive?
  11. Thanks for the great responses. LCM - very informative post. I understand I am trying to combine about 3 different rods into one, but that is where I am at the moment. I would say 50% of the time I will be throwing Jerks, 40 % shallow and medium cranks then other 10% deep cranks - I actually almost never throw them currently but know they have their place.
  12. I am hoping sometime this Spring to get a GLX 855 CBR. It will be used for all my cranking needs - shallow to deep. As well as pointers, 110s, and similar. I am trying to figure out what to pair with it. From some googling - many people prefer a 5.x to 1 reel for cranks where as for jerks the IPT are more important ranging from 26-30 IPT. This will be my first CBR - currently I throw them on a IMX 844C with a Chronarch 150 CI4+ HG. I want to stick with Shimano, as I own 3 of there reels and have really liked them. I am looking at around $200 for the reel. Suggestions on ratio, IPT recommendations are welcome. I was looking at a Chronarch 200E5 but the IPT is only 23, while I am new to jerkbaits what would having less IPT really do - I assume I would just have to turn another 1/4 turn to take in a little more slack depending on my cadence. Thanks, Matt
  13. I don't know what you're talking about ... *Closes tab*
  14. Thanks for the replies. I think I am going order. Tywithay - you are correct they are closed until Jan 5th - good call. Prices are the best I found after a pretty thorough search. Matt
  15. I am very close in pulling the trigger on a Rarenium ci4+ 2500s from Digitaka - wanted to see if anyone has purchased any reels from them before and how was the experience? Thanks! Matt
  16. And I was super excited about 50° on Friday, was able to grab a few. Nice outing I'd say!
  17. Yeah, I guess at the end of the day as long as you're catching fish it doesn't matter!
  18. Dwight you really are a heck of a fisherman. I really enjoy seeing all your pictures as well as reading about your trips. You know when the avatar changes it usually means good pigs things!
  19. Heck of a fish, congrats on that hawg!
  20. So I have used these baits for for a good bit this year and had great success. Went out yesterday for a few hours since it was so nice out and couldn't buy a bit on a jig, then I tied on a Hydra - still nothing. I had about 4 pit bosses left in a pack and figured I use them up (if I could get a bite that is). Anyway, I ended up doing pretty well 3 dinks and a nice 3.5+lber. Then I went home and was looking on TW to reorder and went to the review section and noticed someone pointed out that most people confuse the top and bottom (myself included apparently). So how do you rig them, as in what is the top of the bait and what is the bottom. I always rigged them with the side that has the open rings as the top and the side that has the connecting larger rings and then the smaller set as the bottom. Looking at the other pictures of baits on TW - they always show the top pictures as the top and the bottom as the bottom, which makes sense. So my question is how do you rig it and what is the top and what is the bottom? I guess it must not matter to much since I have caught plenty of fish with it 'up side down'. Matt
  21. George - looks like one of the old Shimano boxes, which unfortunately they don't make any more.
  22. Agreed, do you really want to carry around a chair along with everything else you have.
  23. This (although I have yet to have the privialge of using Mike's), but I really like the D&M. I use 3/8 80% of the time with the other 20% at 1/2oz. I also like Skinny Dippers as a trailer I also use Keitech Impacts as well.
  24. When you get a chance can you post a picture next to something for size reference?
  25. Awesome, thanks for the response. That was my thought process going in - I can go angled or straight pending on the bait. Also, those are some sweet baits in those boxes!!
