  1. I am going to a lake this weekend where I feel cranking rock with a 3/4oz swinging football head will be a good option. What baits do you have confidence in? I was thinking ribbon tail worms, rage tail structure bug, and about most baits. But anything you find works better than others.
  2. The death roll is the worst....
  3. Lethal Weapon IV Swim Jig (for over the counter stuff) - mostly 3/8. I also throw 1/4oz. Keitechs and Rage Menace are what I use most of the time trailer wise.
  4. @Catt It's about time you put your 2 cents in on this thread.
  5. Mattawoman is a huge creek, where were you fishing exactly? You launch out of slavins?
  6. In case it was the standard power worm.
  7. Do you know what the difference between the Scout with 2 line ties vs 1 - year of production?
  8. I myself am (was) probably more guilty than most. I got hit by the creature/beaver bait monkey hard. I finally narrowed it down to a few I always have on hand and honestly threw it 98% of the time when I would throw a t-rig. Last week I went out with a buddy and he caught 1 early throwing a t-rig worm (I was throwing a crank) and then started throwing my trusty creature bait. We left that spot after a while and no more bites. Next spot I'm throwing my crank and creature again, nothing. He's throwing a mix of things then gets one on the worm again. I still keep throwing that creature bait. Nothing. He misses one and says out loud - seems like that want the worm today. So finally I grab a worm and put it on. We proceeded to catch about 10+ fish in the next few hours with our best 4 being just under 16lbs. So I want to apologize to the worm and promise to start throwing it more often.
  9. Like I said I've been running braid maybe I'll try some FC and see how I like it and go from there.
  10. What do you like about FC more. What specs are your rod? Wow, I've heard Yo-Zuri has a high breaking strength but with the grass I fish I was think 15/17lb if I decide to go FC.
  11. I've been throwing alot more chatterbaits since the middle of last year and going forward into this year. Are you using FC or Braid. The master himself, Brett Hite, uses 20lb Sniper. I use 30 or 40lb braid depending on what rod I have. It is important to to me be able to snap grass free. Does it depend on if you are using more of a composite rod that has some give, ie braid and maybe if using a less forgiving rod where a little stretch is need go FC. Just trying to hear your thoughts and opinions on the subject. Also, would like to hear your setup - rod specs and gear ratio.
  12. There are sooooooooooooooooo many beaver style baits out there, you could go crazy trying them all (most of us have tried). Stick to a brand or two grab a few colors and call it a day. Sweet Beavers & D-Bombs are certainly some of the more popular ones and they get the job done. But really now a days any plastic company has 1 or 7 various styles of these baits. IMO (which isn't worth a whole lot) it's more about fishing the right spots than a sweet beaver vs a D-bomb on any given day. I like to use beavers primarily to flip/pitch cover (brush, grass edges, etc.) I'll certainly hop it a few times but for me it's about getting more casts than slowly working the bait back to the boat. I fish a mostly shallow rivers so I don't get the chance to throw it in 15' FOW.
  13. http://www.glorybag.com/App_Content/home.aspx Possibly? I was looking at those myself.
  14. Please let me know, its hard to follow everything.
  15. I actually thought that passed already, hence my post. Either way I personally don't like to put holes in my fish anyway so rarely use them, but they are nice to have. Especially since I'm starting to catch more limits!!!!
  16. I've read mixed reviews on that one, good to know. I don't really care if I can lift them up by it as much as just get a handle on the fish. These are the ones I was leaning towards - but yes steep price for sure. Interesting, never thought of using them that way, nice idea.
  17. What non Piercing Cull systems is everyone using and how do you like it? Thanks.
  18. Nice fish buddy, glad to see you getting your lines wet!!!
  19. You never know................
  20. Can I like half this comment only???
  21. Just posting as I am interested in this topic as well. I use a 6'6" casting rod, but I've never tried a spinning set up.
  22. I caught a lot of fish on the Tungsten 2 Tap last year.
  23. Well said, and since I am fairly new to fishing (especially tournament fishing) I like fishing as a co. Since I don't own a boat I get to fish with everyone in the club. The spinnerbait/crankbait guy, the worm/jig guy, the utility guy, etc. This is now my 3rd year in the club and have a fairly good idea of the pace each fish at. Most of the guys in my club have been fishing 15, 20, 30+ years and have a good idea where the fish are. I talk to my partner before the tournament and see what his plans are for the day. I try to fish at the same pace my boater is, as I can't throw a weightless senko if hes burning a spinnerbait with the trolling motor on 70, in most cases. I still try to fish to my strengths as well but with-in that I follow the boaters pace.
  24. I'm just posting so I can come back later and read all of this when I have time..
