  1. I hear and read about people having their reels super tuned. What does that process actually entail? Is it a more thorough cleaning, or upgrading the drag, bearings? Just curious? Matt
  2. Can you take a picture next to a kvd 1.5 or something similar. The 3" is interesting, it looks fairly slender. I might add one to my TW order. The weight of 5/8 also surprises me. Matt
  3. While, I know nothing of TN's fishing. That's all me and my boater could catch them on last Friday. Craw colored was key Spring/Fall. No jerkbaits or plastics. Just reel slow and for us - they only bit 1 out of the 6 treble hooks so don't horse them in, play them out a little. Good luck! Matt
  4. Megabass S-Crank 1.2 - this has been my biggest producer this year! LC 1.5 Silent Imakatsu Jaka Jack Bagley B2 Manns -1 or Storm Subwart
  5. While I can't help in comparing the two as I only have the 783C, I can give my thoughts on it if that would be beneficial? Matt
  6. This is normally true, but for this instance and this one only they are all brand new rods - until they sell out. This is for instock rods only. They don't expect to see anymore rods from MB (other than the Levante) for 6 months to a year. They received special permission from MB to do so. I just picked up a PIII Elseil because of it. I'll post pics in the 'Show your Stuff' post soon. Matt
  7. I personally like to use a spinning reel/rod when skipping - wacky rigged senkos. I usually pitch/flip jigs around docks and use a baitcaster. Unless super clear you shouldn't need a leader. Matt
  8. My favorite braid is daiwa samurai. I have 55 on my spinnerbait/swimjig rod and love it. Next year I'm going to put 30lb on my GLX 855 crankbait rod - which besides 1/2 oz and larger cranks and lipless I just started throwing chatterbaits on and like it for that application as well. I'll even start throwing larger topwaters as well. Matt
  9. Would love to hear your thought on that.... Next year I guess. Matt
  10. I use Mojo brand weights for my split shot/Mojo rigs. Matt
  11. Man Dwight certainly is one of my personal favorite members and is always so helpful. I'll be sure to keep him and his family in my thoughts. Matt
  12. Great spinning reel for the money Pflueger President. I've had mine, although now the wife's, for 2 years no maintenance still smooth as ever. Matt
  13. NIce fish A-Jay, however it seems to me this is/was your last trip of the season 3 posts ago!!! Anyway, nice fish and good luck in 2016.
  14. I purchased a GLX 783C this Spring for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and swim jigs as well. Love that rod. It is also a GREAT all around rod. I've thrown 1/2 rattle traps, light t-rigs, jigs on it as well in a pinch. Matt
  15. Thanks for all the responses. I was looking at the Sunline reaction line - certainly something to think about.
  16. I have been using 12lb sniper and have never had any issues, just curious as to what other people like and more importantly why you like it over other brands. For this rod I will mostly throw baits 1/4-3/8oz. Mostly small traps and square bills. Thanks. Matt
  17. Thanks all. It looks like I'm on the right track, just need to play around with various baits and see how it goes.
  18. I have been throwing lipless cranks more and more, while finding moderate success I have some questions. What size do you guys like for the following applications: Throwing in shallow spare grass flats less than 3' of water. Throwing along defined grass lines in 3-5' of water. Throwing through/in spare grass in 3-5' of water. Most of the places I fish - Potomac, Upper Bay, James/Chickahominy this seems to be mostly the case ie shallow. Will it depend on season fall vs spring? How fast of a retrieve you are using. Whether you are yo yo-ing vs steady retrieve. Amount of grass you are fishing? So far am have just been playing around with weights from 1/4-5/8oz. Just looking for some insight and I will apply to my needs and what the fish want. Thanks, Matt
  19. Stanley and Nichols treat me well. I also like the 5/16 Mike McClelland Finesse War Eagles.
  20. Welcome to BR, you will learn so much from everyone on here, just keep at it. I'd start with some 'light' reading here: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/60793-best-of-bassresourcecom/ Good luck. Matt
  21. Those eyes! Matt
  22. John made me buy a Rarenium last fall and have been very pleased. Great reel, I ended up getting a 2500 and its on a NRX 852 match made in heaven. It all purpose setup. I throw - drop shot, shakey head, weightless senkos, Ned rig, split shot. I have 20lb braid with 8lb sniper fc. Matt
