  1. Interesting... I think i currently have 6 stradics but it seems every year i end up sending one back which they always just replace with a new one but I am looking to try something new. Recently bought a ballistic but not much time on it yet. Do the pfluegers compare to the stradics? I have become pretty picky and need my reels butter smooth or it is done.
  2. yes, .10 would be rather thick!
  3. I have found that mono larger than about .010" does not do well on a spinning reel. With this info what lines are .010" or less in 12# that anyone has found to be good? I really like the Sufix seige and elite but they are to thick on a spinner and do not come off well. With my eyesight not what is once was I am looking for a quality hi vis mono and not braid as I do not care for it.
  4. Thanks guys but i guess i should had mentioned that i cannot stand round reels for anything other then trolling and am looking for smooth high quality low profile. 8-10 hours walking the river throwing hardware makes for a long day and light and simple have always worked best for me. Just looking to upgrade from the Tatulas.
  5. There is nothing I do not love about the one 8:1 Tatula that I do have, just looking to try something new. I love all of the Tatula's and they double as trolling rods as well. You know how this addiction kind of develops a life and spending habit of it's own. No, I cannot possibly use 30 reels at any one time but a guy has got to cover all bases and keep his options open.........
  6. As the title says I am a die hard spoon and spinner fisherman throwing 2/5-2/3 oz and swinging them across the river for salmon and steel head in the great northwest. High gear ratio preferred. Currently I have 5 tatulas and a few older curados but am seeking the ultimate smooth reel in the $300 price range. No need for any super light spool as I will not be throwing anything under 2/5 oz. The new Chronarch MGL is high on my list but i have developed a love of the Daiwas. I am kind of a fish out of water here on the bass site but have found more reel knowledge here than anywhere on the net- bass guys are serious about their equipment! Advice from the masses much appreciated.
  7. I fell in love with the looks of the old shimano bantams a few years ago and started buying up any i could find in mint condition. Then I made the mistake of using them and learned that baitcasters have greatly improved and none were as smooth to the standards we now have. I ended up getting rid of most but that was crazy as they are still very cool looking............
  8. If it feels like you are reeling in wire you have it right!
  9. yes, you can never have to many!
  10. Looking for advice on best reel for throwing light weight- 1/4-1/2 oz spinners, spoons, weighted worm for trout. I have numerous spinning reels but am looking for a baitcaster. Already have 5 tatulas but looking for something new. Best baitcaster under $300?
  11. Oregon- diehard salmon/steelhead guy but we do have a sweet little bass lake about a mile from our farm. Turning into a gearhead and you bass guys know your reels! Waay more information on levelwinds here than anywhere I have found.
  12. I have an older gold chronarch that has been a great reel for steelhead but seems to be getting a little tough to reel under load. Where on this site does a rookie find a good reputable place to send such a reel for maintenance/upgrades?
  13. Stradic ci4 is weight is an issue if not Stradic FI, Fj or Fk- all are great reels!
  14. I have 6 stradics and 2 of them have the crappy round soft handle which my fingers occasionally slip off of. I would like to find some of the nearly flat cork. Anyone know where to look? I have searched Japan Tackle and Yumea with no luck. Oh ya I had better come clean- I am a steelhead bum from the west coast that follows this newly found forum since you guys know your reels and I am always looking to think outside the local box. I have approx 15 baitcasters and the Daiwa Tatula's are by far my favorite.
