  1. What a beaut Clayton. If that isn't the best way to ring in the new year, I don't know what is. Fingers crossed, congrats!
  2. Yeah, it has to be that arm. I mean I know the lake like the back of my hand for the most part and the only "flat"-ish area would be towards the back of that arm. I had my Vendetta/Sahara rigged up with da Ned, but didn't throw it. I'll find em!
  3. Nothing to really brag about, but man it felt to get out for a while. Decided on Lone Star instead of Clinton. Right there with Clayton in breaking in new Christmas toys, including my new 6' 8" Mojo Bass. Wow, I've never owned such a perfect rod. Anyway, I tried just about everything for a deep Bass today, but no dice. 37 degree water temp. Slow rolling jigs, jerkbaits, cranks. Starting shallow, dragging off the drops. Nada. So I got desperate and ran over to the brushpiles in the beach cove. Set up between 3, all in 18-22' of water. Managed a few tugs, but nothing to get excited over. A white, a crappie, and two dinks (Lone Star Grand Slam?). I was just stoked to be out. Should have gone to Clinton though. A buddy of mine and his two friends left with 65 Crappie today.

  10. Thanks again for the Sahara cbass! Got to break it in for a little while at Clinton yesterday. Saw maybe 6-7 other boats out hugging the channel edges, all crappie guys. I marked a few stacks of fish but not much bait. No takers but it was nice to get out for a bit. I'm severely procrastinating Christmas shopping today and have half a mind to make another trip out, or even Lone Star. Weather isn't going to get much better and won't have any time during the week.
  11. Last was definitely a good time and it was great to see everyone again! Glad we could do it. Hopefully next time we'll all be on the water
  12. I think I'll take the Sahara man. If I could make it up to you this weekend from Lawrence would ya do $50?
  13. Sounds good to me man. Hopefully it's not 10 degrees with a few inches of snow on the ground! Text me and we'll figure out the details. Carb rebuild and a few small minor adjustments. Basically new now. The owner of US Boatworks was astounded at the quality of the motor for an '83, as well as how good of a job my pops and I did on the interior rehab of the boat. The biggest bonus was they took my old Evinrude in trade, so the new carbs and other small adjustments only cost me $65 out of pocket. Pretty stoked
  14. I'll be there dudez! Looking forward to seeing you guys and talking shop. Been a minute. Also, along those same lines...looks like I'll finally have some time to come up for air after Christmas, and will be taking a much needed break from 12/30 through 1/5. Just picked up the rig from US Boatworks in KCK today, and am looking forward to getting back on the water as soon as freaking possible and running the hell out of this new motor. So after we've all gotten our holiday stuff out of the way, let's make some plans. Open seat for any and all of those days.
  15. What time are you guyz thinking? I would like to make an appearance. Probably would be able to make it up from Lawrence around 7.
  16. You actually have to fish to catch them.
  17. 2014 Biggest Local Bass Weight (or length if you didn't have a scale): 5 lbs. 6 oz. Lure: Texas rigged Havoc Fatty Craw / watermelon candy Pattern: Pitched up shallow in thick grass Lake: Lone Star (my first Lone Star visit of 2014) Time of Year: July Hadn't fished LS since 2013 before this trip. I'd been on Clinton every day chasing Wipers and Walters, but this day was a little too windy for me to want to deal with. Told my good buddy from TX we would hit Lone Star for a change. Glad I made that call!
  18. Oh, forgot to mention Conorsixtakc is the king of Shawnee Mission Park toad Wipers.
  19. More often than not it's as simple as find the shad, the Wipers won't be far behind. When the water is warm, the shad start busting the surface and the Wipers do too in a massive feeding frenzy. Sometimes you can literally catch them on anything, but obviously shad imitators are the winner. All of my biggest have come from Clinton the past two years. These guys have them dialed at Olathe and Wyandotte. Lone Star even has a few too, I forgot to post this report back in early September. My buddy Austin caught this 5 pounder with me in 3 feet of water way back in the main cove on a spook. First Wiper I've ever seen from Lone Star.
  20. That's an understatement. It is literally the closest fighting fish in KS to the King Salmon I grew up catching on Lake Michigan. Whites become an annoyance when I'm trolling for Walleye during the summer, but you can give me a Wiper every day and twice on Sundays.
  21. Is the Shimano Compre the one 4th from the top?
  22. I think I'll be on Clinton running the motor for the first time with my dad this Saturday. Actually really looking forward to getting back out there, as I don't think I have fished Clinton since August, and used to be my go-to every day.
  23. Who is fishing tomorrow? I've been stuck in Dallas ALL day waiting for a never ending delayed flight but will be back in KS tonight. Thinking I may be on the water tomorrow.
