Drew and I went and fished Lone Star last night one last time before they shut the lake down today for the milfoil treatment. The winds were coming in hard from the west, making most of my favorite spots super hard to fish with the wind and chop. We got bit on jigs, shakyheads, and topwater. Drew caught a decent fish waiting for me at the ramp before I got there. Had about just as many come unbuttoned. Nothing to really brag about, just the usual Lone Star specials. Lake should reopen on Thursday I believe, I'll be really anxious to see what (if any) effect the milfoil treatment has on the fishery.
On a side note, we experienced some really strange baitfish action last night too. We'd thought they were just little bass darting in and out of the weeds...until they started jumping everywhere. And they were big, like 5-6". Kind of uncharacteristic for the shad I'm used to seeing there. Most of the time they started freaking out, it wasn't like they were even being chased. It was more from commotion than anything, which kind of led us to believe they may have been Asian Carp.... But without actually being able to see one up close, we could only speculate.
