  1. I had to jump on the Wolf Creek train. The forecasted all-weekend rain forced me to take the day off and get out. I was the second boat in this morning at 7:45. When I got to the outlet, I had it all to myself. First five minutes I hook up with a big brown fish a Wobbler. Not long after, I switched to a tube and got bit on my first cast. This one broke 3#. When I got to the buoys I switched again to a beaver on a C&C swing head and found a big LMB counting rocks deep, 3 lbs. 4. oz. I turned around and saw Clayton coming around the point at the outlet. I switched over to the mud and started in a pocket that I've always caught fish on. First pass in that pocket and I hooked up with another good LMB on a Wobbler again. This was all within the first hour. From there I bounced around and made a run down the riprap on the south end. To Cole's point, yeah...it was SUPER clear. Like, 10' vis clear. Fished a few different areas and picked up random Smallies here and there on a squarebill, just covering water (granted I didn't have a choice with the wind). No jerkbait bite on the cool water side, I was sad So all in all, Wobbler, tube, Ned, swinghead, squarebill. The wind sucked and I wasn't getting bit anymore so I bailed around 1:30. I probably ended up with close to 15 fish, but the quality was awesome. My best five almost touched 14 lbs. between three Smallies and two LMBs. Should have a GoPro video up tomorrow.

  7. I was gonna say. I bet that's the release point for all the tournaments there, so on non-tournament days I bet it still holds all those giants.
  8. Definitely on the way upper side of 4, if not an even 5. Comparable to Clayton's 4-11, but yours looks like it's got more shoulders. Bassboy98's was looking a bit small to be pushing 4...but anyway, those Michigan smalljaws are something else man! Between Sturgeon Bay and Michigan those are two trips on my list.
  9. Between the e-mail I sent, and Clayton going to bat for me I was able to get it lifted. Lol
  10. Only thing to fear, is the BA himself.
  11. I only had three green fish over 4# this year. One 4.3 at Lone Star in the spring, one 4.3 at DOCO (LOLOL), and the big one this past weekend. Far, far cry from last season...and I fished even more (if that's even possible).
  12. 2015 Biggest Local Bass (largemouth and/or smallmouth) Weight (or length if you didn't have a scale): Largemouth - 4 lbs. 7 oz. Smallmouth - 3 lbs. 12 oz. Kentucky - 2 lbs. 11 oz. Lure: Largemouth - Buzzs Baits 1.5 Squarebill-Bluegill Smallmouth - 3.5" tube - 1/8 oz. Kentucky - Shakyhead / Zoom finesse worm Pattern: Largemouth - Shallow crankin da squerbill Smallmouth - Draggin da tube mon Kentucky - Bed fishing Lake: Largemouth - Lone Star Smallmouth - Melvern Kentucky - LOZ Time of Year: Largemouth - First week of December Smallmouth - Mid-September Kentucky - First weekend in April Still extremely disappointed with how much time and effort I spent on 'Vern that I didn't break my 4# goal. But hey, that's how it goes right?
  13. WC-Wolf Creek/Coffee County. I don't fish Perry at all. I live 3 minutes from the ramp at Clinton, which has also started producing big smallies the past few years.
  14. It's too far of a drive from me in Lawrence to want to consistently make trips out there all winter for one or two fish. And fight the crowds. I'd rather fight smaller crowds at WC and catch both brown and green fish all day and all winter long. I live vicariously through Curt when it comes to LaCygne.
  15. Guys here fished LaCygne the week prior to the shootout and it fished awful, so my guess is that's a no.
  16. Do yourself a favor and go find them at WC. Far more numbers and size to be had right now. Something is off with Melvern and I'm not sticking around to figure it out. I'll wait until Spring.
  17. Took it easy this weekend and took Keith to Lone Star Saturday morning. Slow start, but things picked up once the sun had time to warm the water up to about 42-43. No fish on a jig or even a jerkbait bite. Our fish all came on Buzzs custom 1.5s or a shakyhead. Biggest was my 4 lb. 7 oz. fatty. That's actually my biggest LMB of the year. Sunday I was originally gonna go to Wolf Creek but didn't really have anyone to go with, so I went to Lake Shawnee instead. I had to pick up a rod at Academy in Topeka anyway so I thought I would make a trip of it. Was really hoping for a few brown fish or a Rainbow or two-I didn't find either. I did see a few 'bows up shallow, but by the time you see them it's too late. I had one good LMB on the Ned and one dink.
  18. There was a Backlashers tournament there on Saturday, so that explains the trailers.
  19. Backlashers will be pounding it tomorrow anyway
  20. With the wind they are predicting, it looks like it may just have to be Lone Star instead...
  21. Dat's where I'll be tomorra.
