  1. A few weeks ago I was contacted by the outdoor writer, Michael Pearce, for the Wichita Eagle newspaper who was wanting to do an article on Wolf Creek smallmouth/largemouth with me. After rescheduling once for wind restrictions, we were able to get out on Saturday. Literally could not have been a better day. First five minutes and Mike is hooked up on a big brown fish. That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the day, as we had a 5 fish bag of green and brown fish easily touching 18 lbs. We all consistently were catching fish (Mike Pearce is a close friend of Ned, so you can guess what he was throwing all day and loved it). DJ and I both had fish touching 4#, and he lost one at the boat that was probably pushing 5. And in true WC form, I probably had a 5 drum bag worth 35+ lbs, lol. We caught fish all the way up until 2pm when we left, still not a stitch of wind on the lake. The article will run in the Wichita Eagle next Sunday, print and online. I'll be sure to post the online article & photo gallery here. In the meantime, here are some my pics from the day. The good ones that Mike took will be included next week.

  11. All you turds leaving for the Classic today, y'all have fun now, y'hear?
  12. *unrelated post* So every year the Special Olympics of Kansas puts on a Crappie tournament at Clinton to benefit SOKS. Last year, my dad and I fished it and placed 4th out of 28 boats. This year, SOKS set it up to where each team can raise money on top of each team's entry fees to benefit the organization. My dad and I have our tournament team page set up for donations, so you can help to reach our fundraising goal of $750. We're already over $200. Just wanted to get the link to you guys in case you would like to donate to a great cause! Thanks doodz. http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/bob-ondrejka/fishforsoks
  13. Did that many a time with my old 5 speed MG. Lol
  14. Yes sir, we're leaving Wednesday afternoon with intentions to pre-fish Thursday and Friday. I'm a little sad...but not really.
  15. Long weekend of trips on Clinton Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Even popped over to Lone Star to duck out of the wind (with no bass gear). This Saturday though I'll finally get to take a break from guide trips on Clinton to get out to WC. The outdoor writer for the Wichita Eagle contacted me wanting to do an article on Smallmouth, so I'll be taking him out this upcoming weekend. I have Sunday off as well, so I think Conor and I may do Melvern or WC depending on weather. Then I'm booked solid through March until the second week of April (Lone Star and Melvern guide trips the first 2 weeks in April ). Keith and I are fishing EKB this year, so that starts as well. Then 5 days at LOZ for the Bash. THEN, by May I'll be able to breathe (maybe). Looking forward to seeing everyone on April 5th though too!
  16. I do indeed. Would love to have you out. The LMB bite right now is slow, as I'm sure you've read from a few of our posts that have been there in the past two weeks. It will pick up come March with warming water temps. I'll fish Lone Star all year, it's my own little home away from home in Lawrence. Myself as well as bluebasser have caught Wipers from 7 to 12 lbs. out there last spring. They'll show up and then disappear after a few weeks, nowhere to be found. But really I only fish Lone Star for Bass, as there are plenty. 18" Black...still in his freezer. Lol. You may be able to pick off a few small ones here and there along the accessible banks. If I were stuck on shore I would probably just wait until the water warms up when they get ready to bed up in the spring.
  17. You might as well leave your yaks at home. The only Crappie I've ever found consistently there are on the brush piles directly in front of the docks in the beach cove, so no need for a kayak. And they're all 8-9". Then again, I don't fish Lone Star for Crappie. That's just where I know they are, they are just all dinks for the most part.
  18. I like it. I need some swingys too. I'll text ya.
  19. COTY WHERE ARE MY CARAMEL DELITES AND THIN MINTS
  20. This weekend's wind forecast sucks. I have a guide trip at Clinton on Saturday, and was supposed to take the outdoor writer for the Wichita Eagle to WC on Sunday for a Smallmouth article, but by the looks of the wind that will have to be postponed. wind.
  21. DJ caught his 18" Black on a jerkbait for our first tourney last year at Lone Star. And I've caught countless others. Crappie love them a jerkbait around prespawn/spawn time. Obviously not my target species but man he smoked it.
  22. Saturday's guide trip was a success, sending the happy clients home with plenty of Crappie filets and good memories. Great people and an A+ day on the water. I wanted to sneak out to Lone Star afterwards, but I couldn't in good conscience miss the KU game. Sunday my dad came out and I took him to Clinton. Fish were really scattered and the wind was irritating enough that we decided to bounce over to Lone Star around 10:30. Ran into Adam, caught a few green ones, and a really nice Crappie on a Buzzs 110 Sizzzzzzzzle. Not the live action I was expecting but was nice to be out with pops. No Ned fish yesterday
  23. We both have the same Garmin units brah. Gimme a micro SD. If you do want to venture out with me for freezer fish sometime, you're always welcome! I jumped on the Salt Armor train last spring when I first saw one of their deals. I get a new one almost every time I see an ad. I think I'm up to about 8 now. I've got my dad a few too. Super light weight and comfortable, but they will start getting stringy over time. Hence why I keep buying them haha. I got one of their winter ones too, couldn't feel a thing when we were running 60 on Table Rock last weekend in 29 degree temps.
  24. Yeah have fun with that circus
