    Being new to bass fishing I am overwhelmed by the amount of options there are to catch them. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, millions of soft plastics, etc. Right now I just want to catch some fish. I don't care the size so much but just want some fish. I only fish from the shore and have a medium 6'6 spinning rod. The lake is stained with maybe a foot of visibility on a good day and there is a slight current. The floor has almost no vegetation and is almost completely rocks. What's the easiest, low skill lev way for me to catch some bass this time of year in these condition? Thanks, Christian

    Great advice above, much appreciated. Another thought, if Im bank fishing with lures about 1/8oz to 3/4oz max should i use a baitcaster or spinning rod?

    Being new to fishing and a teenager without a steady income it stuns me how many rods people have. So I have 2 questions: 1. Why have so many? 2. Also, if it is such a big deal what should I do if I really can't afford more than 1 rod and reel combo? Thanks for any responses, anything helps!

    Alright, Thanks for the tips guys! I've only ever used spinning gear so i'm probably gonna stick with it until I learn what works and get used to my lake. I've decided on 6'6 Medium fast rod and a nice pfleuger trion reel from basspro shops. I was able to the combo for around $90 and cant wait to hit the water. Thanks again, I definitely know where to ask for any fishing help from now on! And how do I mark my topic as solved? (if that's possible)

    I am a fairly new to bass fishing and am looking for some advice. I love to fish but really only have access to my local lake (Lake Norman, NC) from the bank in public fishing spots. I'm not very tall (about 5'6) and am trying to figure out what rod and reel setup to get. The areas where i fish are not very deep maybe 15ft max and have rocky bottoms. I'm fishing for large mouth and want to get something good all-around. Preferably spinning and less than 100$. Any tips?
