  • About Me
I'm John, I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I like to fish, shoot guns, and camp. I practice bush craft, I'm a mild prepper, and I'm a member of a tight-knit militia that focuses on disaster preparedness. I have a brown dog who looks generic, I like American History, and I play Xbox 360. I listen to old school country, some metal, and some classic rock. My life really isn't all that interesting, if I'm not doing the things I mentioned then I'm usually just relaxing.

  1. Thanks for the greetings everyone.
  2. I made my account on the 15th, I've made a few posts about tackle and made myself welcome on the gun forum as well. But I realized that I never did properly introduce myself. I'm John from Maryland. I like fishing for largemouth bass from the banks. Hopefully if we see each other in the threads we can share useful insight with one another.
  3. Wow that's terrible, and I thought the gun laws were restrictive here in MD. I always keep my HD gun loaded and ready to use if need be. The way I look at it is since you're supposed to treat every weapon as if it's loaded, then it might as well be loaded.
  4. I want to buy a cheap yet reliable digital scale. What scales do you guys use to weigh your beasts of the water?
  5. Texas rigged Pit Boss
  6. I caught a 6lb largemouth bass on a t-rigged pit boss a few days ago when it was overcast. A few minutes later it started thunder-storming so we left. There is no need to be standing on the bank and have your fishing rod turn into a lightning rod.
  7. I usually wear a 26 pocket fishing vest and I use a Range bag that the NRA gives you for joining, as my tackle bag. I can carry anything that I want to bring in those 2 things.
  8. I've thought about birdshot for those same reasons. The only problem with that for me is that my house is so close quarters I'd probably be less likely to have collateral damage with using a slug. I live in an old brick row home on the east coast.
  9. I like red treble hooks because to a bass it might make it seem as if its meal is wounded and more vulnerable. Not sure if the bass are actually thinking that but it makes sense to me lol.
  10. I keep my 12 right next to my bed and out of the case also. The H&R Pardner Pump is pretty much an 870 clone (with a few minor changes) and will accept all the aftermarket parts for an 870, except for an 870 barrel. It was only about $190 (plus tax) and I haven't had any problems with it so far. Can't get much more powerful and reliable than a 12 GA pump at close range.
  11. If a crazed lunatic broke into your home who was trying to harm you or your family, which one of your guns would you grab and what ammo would you use? I know the obvious, "the closest one to me" but let's assume you have enough time to grab anything you want. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd choose my trusty H&R Pardner Pump with Hollow point slugs.
  12. If I were you I'd go old-school. Get a full-auto BAR. Nothing says "I'll kick your bass" like a 30-06. It'll also be a good work out since it weighs about 20lbs.
  13. Caught from the bank.
