  1. Another nice feature - the slide now locks back on the final round.
  2. Trigger is vastly improved. I watched a few YouTube video's during my research and whenever I heard everyone raving how they improved the trigger I knew it seemed like a good buy. The old trigger was straight double action. The new trigger is described as 3/4 cocked single action and the trigger pull is now around 6 pounds. The sites are still milled into the slide, but they're a little bigger than the previous model. Throw a little nail polish paint on the front site and it's good. Bear in mind, this isn't a range gun, so in the event of the need to use it, you probably won't be using the sites anyway.
  3. I'm starting to think the same thing too. Step up to 40 lb. braid and it should help ease this issue.
  4. If you want a nice little pocket toy that won't require you to sell/trade anything away, check out the new LCP II. I got one last week and it's worked great for me so far. They can be easily had for under $300 out the door.
  5. Ned rig, rooster tail, small grub on a jig head, and the almighty Keitech impact fat. If they don't want any of those, they're not biting.
  6. When the water gets really warm and the sun gets high and hot, topwater isn't the best thing to throw mid day. Early morning and dusk are the best times to throw it. However, when the water is in the upper 50's and 60's, it can be effective all day long.
  7. The entire Revo and Veritas line is discounted everywhere. Common sense tells me that there will be a gen 4 Revo series coming and a Veritas 3.0 as well.
  8. Your braking on your reel sounds good (in fact, maybe overkill for a Senko), but I would question if your spool tension needs adjusted more. You want that bait to just fall slowly if you release the clutch with the bait just hanging. The best way I would say to do this for a beginner is to tighten it to the point that the bait won't fall at all, and then slowly loosen it up until the bait starts barely falling. Take a few casts with it like that. Once you get the feel of it, loosen it up a hair more so you've got a slow but consistent fall to the bait. This should give you an optimal balance of casting distance and backlash control. This also could all be overthinking on my part. You mentioned this only happens during overhead casts. Do you have this issue with side arm casts or while pitching? If it's only during over head casting, it's possible your form isn't perfect yet. Keep practicing and it will come to you. As for your distance, 25 yards with a weightless Senko is still pretty darn good. You're talking 75 feet at that point. In reality, a weightless Senko with a hook is probably around a 1/4oz. (maybe a hair over). You've got the proper rod for fishing a Senko, so I wouldn't blame it on that. With practice, you'll get better. If you're beating the banks and want to reach spots that you couldn't reach before, consider purchasing some knee high muck boots or some hip waders. Back whenever I fished the banks, I wore hip waders to help get me out into deeper water that the normal bank guys weren't fishing. Spots that I thought were good fishing spots, were only two feet deep at 60 feet out from the shore.
  9. That's a beautiful looking brown trout for being in the lake. Nice fish!
  10. Here in PA, you cannot purchase a lifetime license until you are 60 (or 65, I'd have to double check). However, they do offer multi year licenses (1, 3, 5, 10), which is nice. I personally always buy the 3 year license. I do this because it saves me the hassle of having to go into a shop just to buy a license every spring, and it saves me a couple dollars overall.
  11. Greatest workhorse reel ever made in fishing. Nothing beats the old, reliable Greenie.
  12. I got her back from DVT and put the rest of her dress up parts on. Now she just needs spooled and she's ready to go.
  13. Go in your wifes closet and count all her shoes, purses and dresses. From there, determine who has the spending problem.
  14. These LiveTarget baits keep looking better and better!
  15. Around here you're going to get out fished 10:1 if you're not using live minnows, but to each his own. Being in a kayak could make transporting live bait difficult, so I understand that aspect. We generally catch them in the downed trees, stumps, and old root systems using fathead minnow's on 1/8oz. jigs.
  16. Throw both sizes and see what works best for you. I've seen smallmouth bite on the Pointer 128's, so it's really a matter of what the fish want to bite on.
  17. A Zillion on a Lightning Rod?! I imagine that rod is going to feel a lot like Julia Roberts did in Pretty Woman with a reel like that on it.
  18. Biffle Bug works great for these. Very effective for me.
  19. Go on Tackle Trap and get the Daiwa RCS knobs and whatever length handle you prefer.
  20. The slabs are starting to move up in central Pennsylvania.
  21. First 4 pounder of the year. I was reeling in a small bass and this fish came out from under a dock and swiped at the fish I was fighting. I landed the small fish, released it, and tied on a LC 1.5 and swam it right beside the dock. Bam!
  22. A frog is a topwater... I flip my jigs...

  24. The 765CB is a great cranking rod and I use mine for all the time for DT10-14-16's. I also own the 705CB which works well for DT10's, but I would prefer the extra length of the 765CB for using a DT16. I also own the Avid 7' H-Moderate cranking rod, and my tournament partner owns the LTB Big Cranker that you mention. So I have used the comparable St. Croix models to the Champion. In the end, both are great rods, but I much prefer the Dobyns cranking rods over the St. Croix.
