  1. For me, where the Senko really shines, is whenever it's suspended in the middle of the water column. Because of its softness, it has that subtle, natural shimmy as it slowly falls through the water column that the bass can't resist. Where as a craw, they're naturally found on the lakes bottom rather than swimming around high up in the water column. The bullet weight banging off the rocky bottom also makes the same type clicking sound that a crawfish naturally makes in the water.
  2. I think what you are experiencing is the result of your reel frame twisting/binding under load. To my knowledge, the Quantum Escalade frame is made from a plastic composite, rather than an aluminum frame like you would have with a higher end reel. Unfortunately, there's nothing really you can do other than upgrade to a reel with an aluminum frame. This wording from the product description is the dead giveaway that the spool is the only aluminum part of the reel.
  3. I'm personally a big fan of the Cavitron Similar to what Bobby said, I've never had a bad issue with any of my Cavitrons running sideways uncontrollably like I have with other brands. I've probably gone through over a dozen Cavitrons in the past 5 years or so and they've all ran great out of the package. My personal favorite is the red blade, black skirt 1/4oz version. I like to put a 1-2" piece of a Senko on the hook to give the bait a little more weight and casting distance while still keeping that smaller 1/4oz profile. And like noted, if I don't thread that Senko on there perfectly, I will get a slight off center tracking, but nothing that isn't worthy of noting. Hey @Bobby Uhrig, would it be too much to ask for a bait keeper incorporated into the head/hook design? Please.... ?
  4. My biggest of the year. It came from the bank, no less. Finally broke the 20" mark.
  5. You're splitting hairs here with 16/17/18lb lines here. Try them all and determine what works best for you.
  6. Is the Chronarch MGL any good? The 4 that I keep in my rotation say yes.
  7. I can't even imagine trying to crank a deep diver on an 8:1. That issue aside, your problem could be a slightly out of tune crankbait. This can be fixed by bending the eye of the bait. There's plenty of articles and videos online showing/explaining how to do this.
  8. The dimpled bills are the super old one's. There was a modern company that copied that same mold with the bill dimple and they look exactly identical.
  9. Really no way to date a Wart unless you have the original box. The box style and label coloring changed through the years, so that's really the only way to date one. I can tell you that the super early ones, the stamped "suspending" on the side of the body back by the tail. That blue craw was part of a Bass Pro Shops special run that was done in the mid 90's. If you are interested in selling it, I'd be interested. That's one of my favorite colors to fish.
  10. Best bait for fishing a laydown? This one is easy. A spinnerbait
  11. To be clear, eBay (or any online retailer) does not charge taxes, the US government does. That being said, 34 states are now enforcing the Internet Sales Tax, so you can get used to seeing this everywhere.
  12. I just got done doing some creek fishing last night for smallies. A 2.8 or 3.3" Keitech on a 1/8oz jighead is a killer, as well as a compact 1/8oz spinnerbait as well.
  13. Congrats to Pexari32 for winning our 2019 Fantasy Fishing League! He managed to edge out Bigfishadventures78 by just 75 points. I also want to give a big shout out to the 80 total members that we had playing along this year. It's been a lot of fun and I always enjoy watching everyone battle it out throughout the season. I hope you all enjoyed it and that we can get even more guys to play along next season. Here's a breakdown of our top 15 on the season: Pexari32 Bigfishadventures78 bfric fish527 blckshirt98 Gundog179 fcfchang Odell015 sschrad Jorgaba fishballer06 MSWV AnnieWu77 Jrob78 PeteM I'm looking forward to next season with you all. It's always fun shooting the breeze with you guys and talking strategy and how the pro's are doing all year long. It's going to be a long off season in the meantime. First event next year starts February 6th.
  14. Feider has over 24 pounds already. I think it's safe to say he has this one in the bag.
  15. I can bomb a Manns Baby 1- with it using 12lb fluoro. That's a 1/4oz bait.
  16. Chronarch MGL, hands down. This reel is an absolute gem in the Shimano lineup.
  17. I saw he blanked. A few guys struggled to catch them yesterday with the wind, and I know a few had boat issues. I haven't heard anything official on what happened with him.
  18. I've got Feider in my A bucket (1st) and Mueller in my E bucket (4th). But my B, C, and D buckets are all in the bottom 15. I took Garrett Paquette since he's a local and he only had 3 fish yesterday and landed in 44th, but looking this morning, it looks like he's already caught a 5-8 this morning, so hopefully he should rise up in the rankings today.
  19. I bought a few of the BX Minnow jerkbaits the year they were released and I killed them on that bait that year. For whatever reason, I've switched back to using my Lucky Craft and Megabass jerkbaits since.
  20. I haven't shot a 6.5 yet, but I have done a good bit of research on them because I've almost brought myself to buying one twice. With that, I'll say this from what I've learned. It's a great long range gun. It's a very fast, flat shooting round. With that, it does a TON of damage to a deer at short ranges. So if you're going to be hunting in the woods and primarily shooting 50 yards or less, I think there's better calibers for you. 308, 30-30, 270, 243, & 7mm-08 all come to mind. If you get more into hunting and start doing some field hunting, the 270 and 308 will work in a pinch, but that's when I would consider a different rifle better suited for long range (6.5cm, 300mag, 270wsm, 7mm mag).
  21. Me personally, I'd never wear a jersey during a non-tournament. But this is America and you are free to do whatever you want.
  22. I'm not familiar with Quantum's warranty program, but Okuma has a limetime warranty.
  23. That's a biggun'. Congrats!
