The Outcast Feider jigs are pretty nice. I also know Siebert Outdoors offers a tungsten jig, but I haven't used them.

Experiment and find out. Every rod manufacturer's ratings are a little different.

You may have ordered the light wire Boss Football jighead. I've never had any issues with the hooks on their jigs. As for the Sniper, you can order just the head, the finesse cut, or the XL which has a full untrimmed skirt. My suggestion is look into some Musky rods. They might be rated heavy enough to throw a bait like that.

In all seriousness, I don't throw any swimbaits over ~3oz, so I really can't help. @SPEEDBEAD. might be able to help.

It really comes down to the hook of jig, rather than the weight of the jig. You need a rod stout enough to drive the hook home, but not too stout of a hook that it bends the hook. The Siebert Sniper jig, although it's based on a 2/0 hook, is pretty stout and I like at least a MH cast rod for them. I have yet to bend one or roll the hook point.

No, quite the opposite actually. This is the 5/16oz. version, which is built on a pretty stout 2/0 hook. I'm usually throwing them on a MH or H powered rod.

@Munkin did you powder paint that blade as well?

40 acres and the deepest the lake gets is 8 feet? Given those temperatures and winds, I'm going to be chucking a spinnerbait and buzzbait. Give the lake is that small, you could easily fish the entire lake in an 8 hour day.

The SLX MGL is more finesse based based upon size of the frame and spool. The Scorpion MGL is more all around casting based.

Which reel do you own? Every reel looks a little different internally. The newer Shimano's look like this, and those little tabs flip up or down and lock into place. That is how you turn a brake on or off. http://www.tackletour.com/images17/picshimcuradok7.jpg

Don't be afraid to toss a 7 or 9" MS Slammer. The Gan Craft Jointed Claw and Deps Slide Swimmer are also solid choices. @Bluebasser86 is a bit of a big bait junkie. Wait for him to chime in.

I run mine with all 4 on and then adjust externally. If it's calmer, I'll run 3 on and 1 off.
