  1. Quick update - 5 days left to get your picks in for this first event. Remember, its free to sign up!
  2. Sounds like every club ever... Two things can happen - Everyone quits showing up, eventually the ringers stop showing up because there's no pay out, and then you have no one. You could change out your payout. Make it so first and second payout goes lower, and you start paying out more places.
  3. It was just announced in the newsletter this past week. They're selling 100 of each model to testers at a discounted price to see what people think of them before they are released to the public.
  4. I've never had luck with going lower than 40lb. braid on my casting reels. So for that, my vote is for 40lb. given the options you gave us. Me personally, I'd be using 14-17 pound fluorocarbon for this.
  5. Definitely. I've seen a few guys do 204 AR builds and my head just spins thinking about doing a full mag dump with those shells.
  6. Excellent video Clayton. Pretty amazing job if I do say so myself. That's a 204 you used? And like others have said, I've seen groundhogs run up trees before as well. I even found the carcass of a dead one in the Y of a tree about 10 feet off the ground once.
  7. You picked the local boy (to me) in bucket E. I can't wait to see how he does.
  8. You're throwing jerkbaits on 20lb FC?! Bantam or Metanium, by the way.
  9. I can remember a guy talking at weigh in's at one of my first tournaments ever. The guy said "I hate throwing buzzbaits. They never catch anything bigger than 14-15." I just chuckled and kept my mouth shut.
  10. Buy both, you'll love both, and then you'll want a few more of each. Trust me, I know from experience.
  11. I'm late to this thread, but my best came on an old reliable. 1/4oz Black Cavitron buzzbait (red blade) 20.5", 4.75lb (+/- .25, didn't have my scale on me that day)
  12. We're now up to 30 guys in the group. There's still 13 days to sign up before the first event. Lets start talking strategy here. Who is everyone taking? It looks like Florida finally got a little bit of a cold snap, that's going to start a big wave of spawners.
  13. We're only in January. Wait until you see the February threads!!
  14. Dicks is headquartered here in Pittsburgh and they're currently in the process of closing up (and clearancing out) their entire fishing and hunting section. My local Dicks up and packed their entire fishing section in one day and sent it over to the local Field and Stream store. They're clearancing out the hunting/guns section before they move whatever is left over to F&S as well. They've been doing that here since New Years. From what the guys in the hunting section told me, they're going to put something else in all the stores that sells better than the hunting/fishing stuff. All the hunting sections should be gone in our region by spring from what the employees have been told.
  15. My home lakes are all 1-2.5 hours away. My favorite lake is about 7 hours away, in central Ontario.
  16. Surprised it only took until January 18th for this thread to show up. For me, I'll take a casting style jig. So many possible ways to fish it. Pitching/flipping, swim it, drag it. I can cover the whole water column.
  17. I'll go against the grain here. I used KVD for years, and it works great. In fact, it's the best. However, I have also bought the BPS line conditioner, and guess what? It seems to perform just as well. So with that, I recommend both, and buy whatever is most easily available to you. I personally have a few bottles around of each my garage, bank bag, and in the boat.
  18. That's like, what, 3 hours at the mall for your wife? You deserve these reels. ~Bait Monkey
  19. I think Rapala sponsored a game for the PS4. Maybe search around for it.
  20. Buy both and give us all an honest review. Sincerely, Bait Monkey
  21. I really need to try some of those dredge hooks. I have a few in some football jigs, but I rarely throw those.
  22. Should be prespawn at that point. This lake is deep for the most part. So try to find area's where there's deep water next to some shallow water. I'd check around the James Creek/Aitch area.
  23. Excellent choice. Don't be afraid to experiment with the level of air flow from the aerator. When I first used mine, I had it really flowing at basically fully open and I wasn't getting the best results. I've got mine barely flowing now so its just barely fluffing up that powder and it's working really well.
  24. I bought a few spools of the 14lb to try out. I used it for about an hour so far and it seemed to work well. I didn't catch anything with it, so I can't comment on the strength.
