  1. KVD Line and Lure. Don't leave home without it.
  2. Either of those should work well. I don't own either, but I own a 734. I'd guess that bait would work well on the 733 though. Experiment and see what works for you and report back to us.
  3. Really depends on the weeds and the size of the bait I throw. I'll throw a 3.3" and even a 3.8" on a Medium power if it allows. MH is the do all though. H is nice in really heavy weeds, but casting distance and accuracy suffers.
  4. Keel weighted hooks are my go to in the weeds.
  5. Define old... I certainly wouldn't want a baitcaster from the 80's. But a Bantam Curado, Chronarch D, or something of those likes is still a fine reel to this day.
  6. Buddy Gross came from 43rd on day one to give me a great tournament by winning, biggest bag, and lunker. Here's our current top 5 in the group. Logan - 3668 SFFishing - 3596 MSPbass - 3572 fishballer06 - 3510 concordmountaineer - 3502 We've got a month until the next one, so do your research boys.
  7. We are underway. To no surprise, Zaldain has over 17 pounds already before 8am.
  8. Worden's Rooster Tail 2.8" Keitech with a 1/8 - 1/4oz jig head Senko's
  9. Today is the last day to get your picks in. Get it done everyone!
  10. I really like using a wacky rig or fluke for following up topwater misses. Something about a slowly fluttering bait after missing a topwater lure seems to drive them crazy.
  11. Interesting thread. I'm surprised I've never seen it before in mid January. All that aside, I'm going with 15lb. PLine Tactical.
  12. Looks like YouTube is finally offering more than 360 now. I've got 1080 finally. This is a public 150 acre reservoir right alongside a busy road. Major downside is that it's no secret and everyone can see you catching everything.
  13. When they're biting, they're biting.
  14. In this video, I get a short strike on my chatterbait and I follow up that bite by switching to a jig and slowing down in that same area. This technique works really well with any search bait style lure, especially topwaters.
  15. Dang, an FLW tournament, immediately followed up by a BASS practice and tournament. These fish are going to get worked over.
  16. 6" Jelly Worm. Texas, Carolina, or Shakeyhead.
  17. Newest weapon to the arsenal. Diablo Spec R.
  18. Beautiful reel! I can't wait to see how it works out. I'd love to own one.
  19. Most of my crankbaits are bluegill/perch colored here. In clearer body water, I'll throw natural clearer looking baitfish colors, and in muddy water I'll throw chartruese. Crawfish colors come into play a lot in the spring time. But those bluegill/perch colors are in play year round.
  20. I have events like that all the time. I'll be torn who to pick and I'll just pick the guys with high percentages or who are the local.
  21. You've clearly never met a guy who thinks his 96 Stratos is God's gift to bass boats then
  22. I think they likely head back to where they come from, but they don't bite again if they actually got the hook in them. From what I've seen from missed topwater strikes and/or jig bites, if the fish actually got the bait in their mouth and I ripped it from them, they never seem to want to bite again. But if the fish missed the bait or spit it before I could swing, I have a much higher chance of catching that fish on a follow up cast.
  23. A lot of great tips in there, Glenn. As a guy who fishes as a co-angler, these are all great points. One that never gets discussed that you mentioned is be careful stepping on the seats, or even on the clear coat of the gunwale. Stepping on that gunwale getting in/out of the boat, or if you are standing on the back corner to give yourself better positioning. A lot of guys don't like you putting that excessive wear on their clear coat. Another tip is ask your boater if/when you need to use the restroom to relieve yourself. Some guys don't care if you just go over the side, other guys prefer you only do it in a bottle and not get it on the carpet/gunwale. I've even had guys who have made me get out on the bank to do so. So be thoughtful before you just go.
  24. 8 days to get your picks in. What's everyone's strategy here? These fish are going to be in a totally different stage than they were when these guys originally supposed to fish this event.
  25. Very doubtful. You've probably got some fish that are post spawn, and most that are just now spawning. I know here on my home waters here in PA, last weekend our water was 58*, this weekend it was around 62-66* and the males were just moving up to the banks but the females weren't present yet. Now the past three days the high temperatures have been between 83-92*, so I wouldn't be surprised if the surface temperatures are in the 70*+ range. The fish will be spawning/guarding beds over the next few weeks. The warm weather is going to keep driving the water temperatures up quickly.
