  1. I've been using the PA 72M for two seasons now and no issues to report. I absolutely love that rod and I wish I could afford to have a few more PA's in my arsenal.
  2. It's all about dollars really. He's got a family to support, so you can't blame him. Brand loyalty is becoming a thing of the past any more.
  3. Friendly bump. Less than a month now until the first event. Start making those picks!
  4. Shad Raps are difficult to cast on baitcasting gear because of the weight and balsa design. That being said, the #7 is the smallest I can throw, even with the proper setup for using baitcasters.
  5. I don't understand how one could throw a chatterbait and NOT catch a fish. They darn near rip my arm off every time I throw one.
  6. I own(ed) one of these rods. I went on a fishing trip to Florida last February and I was flying down. Instead of traveling with a rod, I decided to order one of these and have it shipped down there. For the $55 it cost me, I figured I had nothing to lose for a rod for pond hopping a day or two while in Florida. All my rods I normally own are in the $200-500 range, for reference. I was absolutely shocked at the quality and feel of this rod. The finish and feel is on par with rods I've held in the $150-200 range. The rod balanced pretty well, had adequate sensitivity for Texas rigging, and plenty of backbone to set the hook. I couldn't recommend this rod enough if you're building a few setups on a budget.
  7. Up to 21 people now. Bump.
  8. This.
  9. 71 total members. 48 whom played every single event.
  10. Glad to have you back!
  11. Paging @deaknh03
  12. Shimano - Received a Stradic that was never fully assembled properly (the rotor wasn't even attached to the body). Sent it back and got a new one in under 2 weeks total. Bagley - Bought a balsa squarebill that was cracked at the corner of the body where the bill connected. They told me how to fix it, and send me two replacement baits for free. Dobyns - I bought an Extreme rod. Used it one outing and caught a few nice fish with it. Noticed a few days later that the blank had a bunch of stress cracks in the middle of the blank. They immediately sent me a return shipping label and a replacement rod. Took a week total.
  13. Up to 8 members so far. Keep it growing. Any new comers, feel free to ask any questions you may have about the format or how things work. I've been running this league for 6 years or so now.
  14. The time has come for the 2022 Fantasy Fishing season to begin. For those unfamiliar, we have been doing this for a few years now as a fun way to compete and have a little fun among all our members. Do you think you have what it takes to take home 1st place for the season? Group Name: BassResource Password: BR2022 We encourage all members to play along. Just pick your anglers prior to each BASS Elite event and share them (or don't) with the group. It's all part of the fun! Here is the link to the official website. https://bassmasterfantasy.com/
  15. My thoughts exactly. Modifying a crankbait bill can and will alter the action of the bait, for better or worse (more often than not, likely worse). So proceed with caution if you do keep doing this, especially if it's with a bait that isn't easily replaceable. I know I've seen some Wiggle Warts and DT's get mighty sharp and thin at the front after a few days of cranking them over the rocks. The action slowly changes slightly just from doing that.
  16. What's wrong with the 764CB and 765CB?
  17. I usually read the same winter blues threads that get posted every winter on the online forums. That usually helps pass the time a little bit. Outside of that, I hunt and go to the indoor range during the winter. I also will build my own jigs and spinnerbaits.
  18. One of the Shryock brothers did a series called 27. He did a video for every BASS Open that he fished in one season in order to qualify to go to the Elites (spoiler alert - he qualified at the end).
  19. Not sure how I've missed this thread so far, but count me in.
  20. I split mine 2/2, or sometimes I'll go 4/0 depending how I feel. I have large hands, so the smaller reels with the shorter stems off the foot can sometimes cause my knuckles to get busted up by the rotor if I'm not careful. I usually don't go smaller than a 2000 size reel.
  21. It's kind of the nature of the beast, fishing around rip rap like that. Try some Strike King and Lucky Craft squarebills and see if you have any better luck with them.
  22. I just had to Google what this was... Looks like a bait designed to catch people, not fish. The reviews on TW seem to back this up as well.
  23. I wasn't aware that soft plastics were made in any colors besides Green Pumpkin and Black-Blue fleck.
  24. It's not about brand, it's about blades and weight.
  25. Catching fish on a jerkbait is so much fun (and I've been very successful with them), but man is it a workout on your forearms.
