  1. Various different 3700 and 3600 boxes. I have 2 of the waterproof boxes you mentioned that I will take with me on rainy days and I will put the baits I'm using in them on the boat deck. One thing to be careful of with those boxes is they're air tight. So after a day of fishing and having wet lures inside the box and sealing it up, you need to open the box up and let it dry out once you get home. Otherwise your hooks/hardware will rust from sitting in a wet box for an extended amount of time. I really like using the 3701 and 3601 boxes because they are thinner, and allow me to put more boxes inside my tackle bag whenever I fish as a co-angler.
  2. Fishing any topwater plastic is a tough hookup. Upon getting bit, you need to drop your rod tip and give the fish 1-2 seconds to fully get the bait into their mouth, and then lay the wood to them.
  3. Yes, pike can take over a spot. More than likely, those bass are still somewhere close by. They could be suspended out in that deep water, following bait.
  4. Plano makes a 3700 style box that works ok, but I"m not a huge fan of it. They also make a cube shaped one as well, which works well, but as a co-angler, they're not ideal.
  5. I have had braid slip on me if I'm using a smooth, solid spool. If you have a wiffle spool with holes in it where you can tie the braid directly to the spool, you shouldn't have any slippage issues. But regardless, it's more economical to put some cheap mono backing on the reel and then top it off with the last 70 yards or so of braid.
  6. I hate to hijack a thread, but I'm looking at these same rods right now. What would be the recommended rod for throwing the Jackall Gantarel? I'm thinking the 7'6" H-MF which is rated 1-5oz.
  7. Like others have said, texas rig a pegged tube if that is what has been working for you. Anything texas rigged should work fine. Even a Tex-posed shakeyhead would probably work.
  8. Just got this baby in yesterday. It's the 6'8" M-XF model.
  9. I have the 2000 version and I use it for finesse presentations, and for jigging for crappie/perch. What did you need to know?
  10. One of my favorite follow ups to a missed buzzbait blowup is a texas rigged tube in the same color with an 1/8oz weight. Works very well for me.
  11. Rapala Skitter Prop works great for me.
  12. I recently picked up a Curado 201G6 for $53 at DSG. Can't beat leftovers that have been sitting on the shelf for years.
  13. Considering there was a national holiday 2 days ago, and there being a 15% sale over the entire weekend, I wouldn't get my panties all in a bunch on only the second business day after all of that. I don't know what your tracking says, but it could also be the shipping provider who is backed up as well. If you have a legitimate concern, I would call TW.
  14. I fish the DT's more than any other bait out there and I easily own 100+ of them. With that. I have only ever broken 2 of them, neither of which were really the baits fault at all. I have ground bills down to where there is very little left from cranking them on rocks and none of those have ever had an issue. This one was from slapping the water to remove weeds. And I snapped a bill off on a DT10 whenever I casted and hit a bridge pillar.
  15. I have the 6'10" Crucial. It's a great all around rod and is exactly what I would expect for the price.
  16. Tom's totally right. This subject comes up numerous times every year on almost every fishing forum out there. A quick search will give you an answer.
  17. Pomp Jr. will be in my next order from TW. Check them out.
  18. There's a video on the Jackall Japan website. Looks pretty sweet. http://www.jackall.co.jp/bass/movie/2445/
  19. I see you're from Pittsburgh, so I'm going to guess you're fishing at Arthur. If so, that's your problem...
  20. I use Sniper in 12 and 14lb. in tandem with KVD L&L and I have never had any issues. Give it a good heavy spray the night before, and then hit it again in the morning before you leave. Works great for me.
  21. Check out the Shimano Chronarch E5's. They're being discontinued as well, but they're one hell of a reel.
  22. I have the 765CB in graphite and I pair it up with a Zillion 4.9:1. I absolutely love this rod for deep cranking. I throw everything from a DT10 and up with it and I find it to be the best cranking setup I've ever used. I have never used the glass version, but I prefer graphite more in general over glass. I prefer the lighter weight and sensitivity of graphite. I also own the 684CB in graphite as well and I use this rod for squarebills and small jerkbaits. Again, this rod is perfect for this application. I hope this helps. You won't go wrong with any Dobyns Champion rod.
  23. I have one in the perch color and it always works very well for me in the spring and fall (cooler water). I love that it floats and comes up fairly quickly. These jerkbaits excel for me in situations where its skinny water, whether its shallow or the weeds aren't far below the surface. My only recommendation is switching out the stock hooks for something with a heavier wire.
  24. I use a trailer hook, but I do not use any plastic trailer on my buzzbaits. I have found that they can effect how true the buzzbait runs. I prefer a bait that comes in straight so I can maneuver it around weeds/structure when need be.
  25. Same here. I've never caught anything on firetiger except maybe a few pike. I don't know why, but Firetiger just doesn't work for me. Put on a perch color though, and I'll fill the livewell.
