  1. If I could just go every event without having one guy who just absolutely tanks, that would be great. Justin Atkins weighing in one single fish yesterday just killed me.
  2. Final afternoon to make your picks. Tomorrow is blast off.
  3. I own the 765CB and I have always said that is the ultimate rod for the DT10, which I throw a lot. I don't throw the DT16 or 6XD much, but I would feel like that rod would be a little outpowered by those baits. I'd probably step up to the 806CB for those baits.
  4. Same. Glad to see more Canadians doing well on the big scene. Friendly reminder - 2 days to make picks for Chick.
  5. I use the larger 3 drawer systems from WalMart. Then each drawer is organized by whatever I have in it. Example: Rapala's Lucky Craft Topwaters Small Keitech Large Keitech Worms Creature Baits Etc, etc. You get the picture. And then I have a pegboard up in my garage of the things that I constantly need/use that I usually need to grab in a rush before I run out the door to head to the lake.
  6. Yeah, those long Indiana's look really good!
  7. Friendly reminder - 9 days to get your picks in for Chick.
  8. Sounds like you bent something. Whether its a gear shaft, or the frame itself. If it's the frame itself, then you're probably SOL. Talk to DVT and see what he thinks (he is a board sponsor). It might be more expensive to repair that model than what its worth.
  9. Fixed that for you. Tournament anglers kill fish. Recreational anglers kill fish. Fish kill fish. Pollution kills fish. The list goes on and on. But one thing holds true - no fish survives if you don't put it back in the water.
  10. I personally prefer a lead keeper. The wire and screw type really tear the bait up to the point of no return for me. I have noticed some jigheads in production these days that have a vertical and horizontal lead bait keeper on them and those hold better than any other design I've seen. My baits last longer with that design over anything.
  11. Wow, what an event. Imagine catching 103 pounds and still not winning a tournament. Big congrats to Drew Cook for taking the W on Santee Cooper with 105 pounds of fish over 4 days. We've got a little bit of a break until the next event. So now huge rush to pick rosters like we've been dealing with the past month or two.
  12. I had 4 fishing on day 3, but none moving on to today. Really kicking myself for switching out BP for Blaylock.
  13. This line of crankbaits looks very promising. The regular 1.5 style one looks solid. I'm excited to try the flatsided one and the shallow version. I'm hoping it's a true 1' diver and not a wake bait. If it is a 1' diver, I'm sure I'll be buying a half dozen of them. The jerkbait looks like a pretty cool design too. The flash on the sides is supposed to tilt/move from my understanding, which could really help those finicky fish to bite.
  14. My experience has been the opposite. The two bags I ordered have been great and I like the added color options they have over Protec.
  15. This post is what happens when a northerner is stuck indoors all winter.
  16. I like 15lb when using squarebills because they're going to be banging against rocks and wood. Plus I'm usually not worried about getting them down as deep as traditional long billed crankbaits. As for using 10lb, I only like using that for jerkbaits when in open water.
  17. Not that I don't love building tackle as much as anyone else here, but where are you having trouble finding underspins with a stout enough hook for casting gear? Below are the jigs I use personally and I throw all of them on casting gear with 15lb fluorocarbon and MH to H powered rods. I know there's plenty more options out there that are stout enough to handle casting gear, but these are just the one's that I personally use. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Fish_Head_Spin_Underspin/descpage-SHFHS.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Santone_Lures_Chris_Zaldain_Z-Spin_Underspin_1pk/descpage-SLCZP.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Eco_Pro_Tungsten_Trokar_Thunder_Spins_/descpage-EPTT.html The Santone and Eco Pro are my favorites. The Santone is built on a nice Gamkatsu hook, and the Eco Pro uses a Trokar hook. Both are top of the line in terms of quality and build.
  18. Welcome, from the other side of the state! And nice smallies!!
  19. He was 4th overall before the Classic. This was his worst tournament yet.
  20. 97.6% here ? And there's still 4 guys ahead of me in this group.
  21. Multiple lakes to fish. Lots of standing timber/wood. I won't be surprised if we see a lower unit or two get destroyed. 20 pound bags are fairly common.
  22. Wow, what a close Classic. Christie had us all fooled with his BassTrak weight. He had 13-12 on Basstrak and he ended up weighing in 17-9. I'm really glad he finally got a Classic win. It was well deserved. Our current top 5 for the group is as follows: Pbuckley63 Lezm001 BassNJake Flintbass fishballer06 We've got 9 days before Santee Cooper, so don't get too comfortable. It's time to start doing research.
  23. AOY Championship in 2015, as well as an open win.
  24. Hmm... Throw a huge swimbait the entire time and hope that he gets 15 total bites over 3 days?
  25. As of now - 20 hours left to make picks. Who is everyone taking? How is this thing going to be won? The weather is looking much different than the past few Hartwell events we've seen. Much warmer temperatures is going to make this a totally different ballgame than it was whenever Ashley and Lee won it.
