  1. Whoa, easy now. We're just a bunch of dumb fishermen... So I should buy it?
  2. It has. Probably a half a dozen times year I'd bet...
  3. Sure. Go purchase every manufactured spinnerbait on the market and ship them to me. I will weigh them all and tell you which ones go by jig weight and which ones go by furnished weight.
  4. Yes, this is the common case with MOST spinnerbaits. Blades, skirts, beads, swivels, etc are not factored into the weight.
  5. Lack of oxygen, too much sunlight reaching the bottom of the lake, spraying, can all kill of aquatic vegetation.
  6. Swim jig is going to offer better hookup ratio, easier and more accurate to cast, and less specialized gear to throw. Give me a swim jig. The big swimbait is a specialized bait if I'm just going for that one huge fish.
  7. I feel bad for you.
  8. In that case, assuming you're not catching trophy sized fish or in a tournament, use whatever is most economical that can get the job done.
  9. Any cheap roundball jighead will work. The problem you have once you start going with too small of a hook is bending out the hook. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_Round_Jig_Head_5pk/descpage-GRJH.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_Ultrahead_Round_Jig_Head_5pk/descpage-OURH.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_Round_Head_with_Lockdown_Keeper_5pk/descpage-ORHL.html Dirty Jigs makes a nice one if you really want something with paint and an eye on it. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Dirty_Jigs_Matt_Stefan_Guppy_Swimbait_Jig_Head_3pk/descpage-DJSGH.html The Megabass Okashira heads are listed as a 3/0, but they seem much smaller than that in person due to the shorter shank on them. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Megabass_Okashira_Jig_Head_3pk/descpage-MBOJH.html
  10. I really thought I had a good team lined up for this one, but I guess not. Crazy to think that 20-22 pounds in a smallmouth tournament isn't even competitive. Regardless, congrats to Jay Przekurat for racking up 102-9 of all smallmouth and holding off a slugfest of a field. Also interesting point to note, Jay was the youngest angler ever to win an Elite event at 23 years and 26 days old. We've got 30 days until our next event on Lake Oahe. Not much history on this lake, so it could be anyones game.
  11. It took 22 pounds yesterday to make 30th place... In a smallmouth event... This is unreal.
  12. We are underway in New York. Looks like the boys are already on some good fish too.
  13. This has been my experience. Finding places where the vegetation changes or is mixed together. Anything different is usually something that will hold fish. Different vegetation, depth, current, wood/rocks mixed in, mats on the surface, etc.
  14. Little over 24 hours left to submit your picks. Who is everyone taking? Going heavy on the Florida and California guys, right?
  15. Local tackle store got a shipment in of the new Sleeper Gills. Couldn't resists grabbing a half dozen of them to test out. Cant wait to see how these do.
  16. I love that Rootbeer Flake powder paint. Highly versatile color and under rated.
  17. 7 days left to make your picks for the St. Lawrence. Start getting them done now!
  18. Friendly bump. 20 days til the St. Lawrence River. How's everyone doing?
  19. They have, for probably 8 or more years actually. Papajoe must be living under a rock
  20. I don't think I've used a spinning rod this year or last...
  21. Another event in the books. Congrats to Brandon Lester for pulling out the win. NittyGritty is currently sitting at the 97.9 percentile as he leads our league. Our current top 5 after Pickwick is as follows. 1. NittyGrittyBoy 2. Fish Forrest Fish 3. flintbass 4. STXHooker 5. BassNJake We have 37 days until there's another event, as the boys head north to the St. Lawrence river to catch some brown fish for a change. So start doing some research. It's going to be a totally different game.
  22. I went with Mullins too, because I expected BP to have to drop out mid tournament due to his wife/child.
  23. Hard to sandbag a 14" fish ?
  24. So let me get this straight. You posted a picture of a bait, asking what it is, but it's not the bait you're looking for, so we're supposed to guess a bait for you that you have no idea what it is?
  25. Chances are the fish have relocated because the spawn is wrapping up. A good way to catch fish right now is search baits to find pockets of fish or fry guarders. Swimbaits, chatterbaits, squarebills, etc. If you get bit in an area, slow down and fish it slower with your bottom contact baits like your Texas rigs and jigs. Don't be afraid to throw topwaters as well now. I caught a few on a buzzbait last week here in PA.
