  1. This is why I don’t kayak fish at night in Florida...
  2. 5 inch Caffeine Shad on Owner Twistlock Light 4/0 3/32 oz hook 5 inch Wacky Worm weightless with #1 VMC Neko hook Grandebass Airmail Rattler with 1/16 oz rigged Neko style w/VMC #2 hook Maxscent Tube on 1/8 oz Owner Phantom Tube Hook 3 inch Ned Zone worm on 3/32 oz Shur-Set Ned head on 7 lb fluoro BFS rod
  3. Omnia Fishing has 15-20% off Dobyns rods through today... kind of a Fr Day promo of sorts ~
  4. If you plan to skip or cast light lures - then a Daiwa SV spool is what I would recommend. Tatula, Zillion, etc. If you want maximum distance, then a Daiwa Tatula Elite absolutely bomb casts lures a country mile ~
  5. Nice outing! Are you referring to this specific hook in a 5/0? https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Mustad_KVD_Grip-Pin_Soft_Plastic_Hook_5pk/descpage-MKVDGPN.html
  6. I drink a 16-20 oz bottle of electrolytes (sugar free Gatorade, Propel, etc) as soon as I get up in the morning I'm fishing. Then I'm already one step ahead on the hydration game. Next I have a cup of coffee and something to eat. Moments later, the deuce is done for the day and I'm ready to get on the water! I continue to drink another 80 ounces of electrolytes: Smart water, Lifewatr, etc. throughout the day... limiting the caffeine intake to 1 beverage seems to work. Other guys I fish with don't do this so I buy them Dude Wipes (and even some repeat offenders a hat) for their birthday every year because inevitably they have to make a pit stop or do a #2 off the back of my boat mid day ?
  7. For lighter lures and/or skipping anything - it’s the gold standard of Steez SV TW. If I want effortless distance - Tatula Elite hands down ...
  8. Me to unless you throw 3/4 or 1 oz. my Orochi Braillist snapped throwing a 3/4 oz DS. Got the Levante Perfect pitch, works great and no worries of overloading it.
  9. I wondered if that might be the case... unfortunately it looks like the 6’9” has either been discontinued or everyone is out of stock. Thx for your reply - -
  10. This was what I plucked out with tweezers after a tournament last weekend. Had to quit over an hour early because several of our reels and guides became unusable.
  11. Reviving an older post. Jbrew - do you mean specifically the Hammer 7 foot doesn’t have the same action as the 6’9” - or do you just mean 7 foot heavy rods in general don’t have the same magic? Thx
  12. I would love too! Hopefully my wife's health turns the corner soon and I hope to be down your way late this Fall or next spring. Thx!
  13. I use a 7’1” Light-Fast Phenix Feather, and a Daiwa Alphas Air TW with 7 lb Sniper. Can drop most weights down vertically with a light tension/brake setting and some thumb. Best of all, much less line twist than a spinning combo.
  14. Thanks Kent, good recommendations. Yes, we do catch numbers here in Minnesota but since our season doesn’t open in the spring until mid-May I’m very willing to drive to find good fishing in March/April. November could be a possibility too since that’s about when we ice up. Definitely have Pickwick and Tenn waters on my radar!!
  15. I believe so... awesome guides but brittle. I’ve had 2-3 replaced.
  16. You’re probably fine unless it’s a Daiwa AGS guide..
  17. Sounds good. Curious how the overall size of the brown bass compare to your local waters like Pickwick this time of year? I went to Bull Shoals this Spring and have thought of returning next year, or possibly down your way instead. Thx!
  18. For a 5 inch fluke or Caffeine Shad I use a 4/0 Owner Twistlock Light... either weightless or sometimes 3/32 oz. Yes, its not nose-hooked, but a hook like the Twistlock gives the lure a little more horizontal swimming action upon retrieve instead of just nose-diving into the weeds.
  19. Yes that makes sense, thx
  20. Curious how you’re doing this ... assuming you have more than one trolling motor battery? Do the Lithium and lead acid batteries work together, do you have them in a series or parallel, different or the same on- bank charger, etc?
  21. Agreed... I have the battery tester and a charge ready to go. If I get another 1-2 years out of the AGM, may switch to Lithium then. All depends on how long you want to keep your vessel too. If you sell in 3 years then I would opt for another AGM most likely.
  22. So when I purchased the boat 5 years ago, it came with the standard group 27 trolling motor batteries. The dealer talked me into the more expensive AGM starting battery - in part because of the no maintenance advantage, but also because it lasts longer. But I can’t remember if he said it was significant longer life. I just replaced all 3 TM batteries this morning, but the AGM/starter battery still indicates a strong charge. I’d prefer not to buy another battery this year but don’t want to go dead on the water either. In the meantime, I’ll keep checking the AGM battery every time before I go out...
  23. Yes, but does it last longer, if so how much..?
  24. So if a lead acid trolling motor battery is estimated to last approx 5 years (with normal use/maintenance) then an AGM starting battery should last approximately how long??
  25. I have three 12v lead acid batteries for my 112 Ultrex. As one or more of them begin to age/fail... can I swap the bad one out for a 100ah Lithium battery that I already own? Or would I need to change all 3 lead acid batteries out for 3 lithium? I also currently have a MinnKota bank charger for the lead acid batteries. What charger would be recommended for 1-3 lithium batteries?
