  1. I know, that fluorocarbon is really stretchy stuff... and yet marketed to be low stretch. How ironic ~
  2. Here has been my evolution after experimenting with several lines on my bait casting rods: 1) First line was Trilene 100% fluorocarbon. I found the line stretched too much - on long casts it was like setting the hook with a rubber band and I would miss too many hook-ups. Also, its fluorocarbon and I grew tired of rats nests. 2) I switched to Berkley XL. Much easier to handle and less stretch than Trilene fluorocarbon. However, not very abrasion resistant. 3) The line I settled on was Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Stretches less than either of the above, and doesn't absorb water and become stretchier over time. Also very abrasion resistant, and little to no rats nests. A close second for me was Trilene XT but it is a little thicker in diameter than YH.

  4. Anyone used their Wacky Stick that has the O-ring inside the worm? That looks like a great idea, but do they still catch fish? I tried Cabelas brand with the O-ring inside and thought the worms were not very soft or salty.
  5. Curious to get input on this line of plastics...worms, grubs, etc. Infused with juice, softness, etc?? I see the Lindners switched over from TriggerX to Big Bite this year but other than that I don't know anyone that fishes them.
  6. Half my rods are 832 braid tipped with a fluorocarbon leader tied with a modified Albright. The other half is Yo-Zuri Hybrid in 10, 12 or 15 lb depending on application.
  7. 12 pound Yo-Zurich Hybrid. Low stretch and great abrasion resistance...
  8. I didn't know Sufix 832 sinks..? How is it different than other braided lines?
  9. Plan on using 10 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid..
  10. Has anyone used the new Avid X 6ft-4in medium, extra fast Baitcaster for either jerk baits or topwater? Looks like an interesting Rod, wondering how it would work for both applications?
  11. I am looking for a reel to add to a new jerkbait/top water rod. What gear ratio would you use for this set up?
  12. If I could find a transom mount for $999 ...I'd pull the trigger -- Maybe its just me, but $1500 for basically an "add-on" is just a bit too steep ~
  13. "'Lindner's Angling Edge' X2 - all time favorite fishing show. Have learned more instructionally from these guys than anyone. Outside of my dad, #1 person I would spend time in a boat with is Al Lindner. Joe Bucher smallmouth segments are very good too ~ he'd be #2.
  14. A few questions for those that use 360 Imaging: 1) What are the 1-2 ways of fishing that 360 has been most useful/beneficial to you? 2) What are the drawbacks/limitations of 360 Imaging? 3) I'm planning on buying new GPS units in 2 years, right now I have two 998's - is it worth adding 360 Imaging now to use on my existing units, or are they too small and I should just wait and buy GPS/360 units all together in a few years?
  15. I have used both P-Line fluorocarbon and Sunline Sniper. Good Low viz lines but like all fluorocarbons they are extremely "stretchy." They seem to work okay as leaders on braid where a little stretch is a good thing, but as a main line on long casts can be like setting the hook with a rubber band.
  16. There are subtle differences between YH and flouro in my opinion ...and a couple more significant ones. Subtle, I think YH may be a little thicker than similar fluorocarbons of similar pound test rating. More significant is that YH stretches less than fluorocarbon lines. The knock against YH is that it does not have the sink rate that 100% flouro has (which is denser). I've come to the conclusion that unless I specifically need a fluorocarbon sink rate (drop-shoting, light finesse, etc) that YH is the better all around and user friendly solution. I have 8 rods rigged with YH, 1 with flouro as a main line and 1 braid with a fluoro leader. But then again, I'm not a pro either...just an amateur but it works well for me.
  17. I've agreed with everything on this thread and think YH is perhaps the best all around line. A couple additional advantages YH has over mono is that it does not absorb water (so the line characteristics and stretch don't change throughout a day of fishing) and it is UV resistant. I have had mono lines out in the sun for a couple of days on longer trips to Canada and it does seem to dry out and get brittle fairly quickly. YH seems to hold up, for me, many times an entire season of pretty regular use...
  18. "Or do these guys fish these lines (or say they do) because it's their sponsors biggest money-making product so they need to push it?" I think you might have at least part of your answer here...
  19. Havent seen one yet without an Optimax/ProXS... I'm definitely looking for a different motor...
  20. I'd like to find a used one with a Merc 150 4 stroke. Very hard to find... I also heard from someone that had one that it "lists" left a little at lower speeds...fine at higher speeds. Just wondering if anyone else had had that issue. Maybe a rigging/prop issue..?
  21. Anyone have experience with this boat? Pros/Cons, etc. Also curious of motor set ups besides ProXS 200.
  22. For those of you that tie on fluorocarbon leaders - curious what pound test and how long are you tying your leaders?
  23. "What do you mean by abrading? What's it wearing out?" During a day of dragging jigs over rocks, branches, etc the braid starts to get a little frayed in the foot or so above the jig. I have found fluoro and Yozuri to be more abrasion resistant, even though you still have to check them for nicks...
  24. I have a rod I'm ready to string up... I primarily use it for casting/flipping jigs with trailers either as a swim jig or to flip into light/medium cover (wood, brush, rocks) but not heavy stuff. I have some 10 pound and 12 pound Yo-Zuri Hybrid I could use or maybe some heavier fluorocarbon. Could use braid but have found it to abrade a little over time. Looking for suggestions and recommendations. Thx, FD
  25. Correct. I do have some medium and medium-heavy baitcasters but am finding I need to develop better touch with finesse applications when using my left hand to hold the rod..
