  1. I thought I would try to see if indeed my old battery was bad. I took for granted my battery was fine, but the day before I last went fishing, I noticed the water level was below the plates, or non existent. I needed to charge the battery right away, or call off the next days fishing. Instead of using distilled water to top it off, I used purified water. Now I know that's not good. Is there a way I can still use the battery if it's good ? I was thinking of leaving the caps off and letting the water evaporate, while leaving the electrolytes intact, and then adding distilled water. I don't know how long it will take for this to happen though. Any other suggestions, before I get a new battery ? Thanks.
  2. I've just ordered a charger. Now I need a good "true" deep cycle battery.
  3. Thanks Wayne ! I'm beginning to think you are the only person in this forum.
  4. Amazon says that one will take one to two months to ship. Will this one charge fast enough http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BQSIWK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER or should I bump up to this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000H961YI/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Thanks
  5. Thanks for the reply Wayne. Anyone have any suggestions on a charger ? I saw this one. Schumacher SSC-1000A SpeedCharge 2/6/10 Amp. Is it not enough or overkill for what I need ?
  6. I'm a "fish when I can" man. Sometimes it's a good while before I can get to the water. I don't think I've ever really charged a deep cycle battery the way it was meant to be charged. Now I'm in the market for a battery and smart charger that meets my needs. Like I said, I'm an intermittent fisherman. I only use my battery for my 50lb. thrust trolling motor and fish finder. So I need to find the right battery and right charger to charge and maintain for maximum battery life for my needs. Without buying overkill for battery or charger. I thought this would be the best place to get help. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys, Wayne
