  1. 6'9" Abu Garcia Veritas MH/F 2-pc and a 6'6" St. Croix Premier MH/F 2-pc. Both rods have Lew's Tourney MB's. I have no complaints about either but I like the St. Croix a little better because of the solid cork grip vs split EVA grip on the Veritas.
  2. I'll chime in on this one. I have a Revo3 STX and just bought the Lews Tournament MB. The Lews is actually on a Veritas 2.0 MH/F with 40lb braid. The STX is on a St. Croix Premier MH/F with 12lb fluoro. Between the two, I like the Lews better. Could be the difference in rods and line but the Lews casts better and is just as smooth. The STX is lighter but the Lews feels more solid.
  3. Scootin' jig or Scooter jig...
  4. I float tube fish. I love it, it's relaxing and keeps me cool in the summer heat. The Creek Company ODC420, Classic Accessories Cumberland, and Outcast Fish/Fat Cat are all comparable. I have the ODC420. I made a rod holder from PVC which holds 3 rods, my GoPro, and a fish finder...The best things about float tubes is the ease of transport in any vehicle, they're lightweight, and can be fully inflated in 2 minutes.
  5. The Creek Company ODC420 is currently on sale for $150 on their website...
  6. This. I had a defective squarebill that sank and contacted Strike King via email. Sent the bad one in, and they sent me back 3 new ones, a hat, and a catalogue. Had another squarebill that the eyes came off. Sent pictures via email. They sent me 3 new ones, no hat or catalogue. Strike King has great customer service...
  7. I caught a 13lb carp on a jika rigged Paca craw while float tubing Mead this season. What a disappointment...
  8. I like 25% of the line's breaking strength. If I don't have a scale, I'll set the drag tight then loosen it to the point that I can pull some line with my hand. I'll error on the side of too loose, though, because I can always increase drag with my thumb on the spool when playing a fish.
  9. What the heck did I just read?
  10. I have a 6'6" St. Croix Premier MH/F 2-piece baitcaster/Abu Revo STX setup lined with 12lb fluorocarbon that I use all the time. I usually use it for plastics/light jigs, but have used it for cranks/spinners/chatterbaits. It's definitely a sturdy dependable rod. I was waiting for it to snap reeling in a 13lb carp at Lake Mead but it held up fine. Are there better rods out there? For sure. Is it a good all-around rod. Yes. Would I get another? Yes. "Should I get xxx rod for a little bit more..." is always a slippery slope.
  11. I have a Revo STX gen3 on a St. Croix premier 6'6" MH/F with 12lb P-Line fluoro. It casts 1/4oz just fine...
  12. They work...nothing exciting about them. I wacky rig them the same way as I do a senko -- thin strip of shrink tubing in the center with the hook threaded perpendicular through it. Lasts more than one fish this way...
  13. X3. I use P-line 100% fluoro 8lb on spinning and 12lb on baitcaster. No complaints.
  14. An old caselogic CD wallet/binder. Make sure they are dry before putting them back in after use.
  15. Not sure how big you are fishing but for small spinners I use a 6' L/MF Fenwick HMX with a Shimano Sedona 1000. Rod loads up well and I can cast a 1/16oz Panther Martin pretty far.
  16. I have a Cabelas L-tech 9ft 5wt, RLS2 combo and I love it. I catch trout and smaller largemouth with it. Bought it on sale a while back. Not sure what the price is for what youre looking at but if you think its a good deal then go for it. Its an awesome combo.
  17. Yeah I know about rage rigging craws and creature baits for a horizontal fall but never tried it with a worm. The thing that struck me was the tight wiggle action a 4" finesse worm has. Never expected it, figured it would just fall "silent." Where a senko has a wobble, the finesse worm has a wiggle. Just a different action/presentation for a high pressured urban/city pond. Caught two more, midday yesterday with the same rig, same pond.
  18. Yes. My d**n A's traded Cespedes for a rental...
  19. Zoom finesse worm rage rigged, mid-day, has worked very well these past two days...
  20. I was at my local pond today where the bottom is covered in moss. Dragging a shakeyhead or jig was out of the question. T-rig was still collecting junk around the sinker. I rigged a 3/0 gammy 1/16oz keel weighted springlock with a zoom finesse worm and worked it like a t-rig. Totally mossless. The best thing though is that on the horizontal fall, the tail end flutters like a senko. Looks awesome. Caught a dink. Anyone try this?
  21. Doesn't look like they've logged since June 10th...
  22. Yes. I've caught a bass, released it, and caught it again no more than 5 minutes later with the same rig. I could tell by my previous hook penetration in its cheek. This was at my local pond, he must have been hungry...
  23. I troll for bass at Lake Mead in my float tube to locate the fish if they're along deeper structure (I have no depth finder on my tube). Cast out a c-rigged fluke or brush hog, or a lipless crank and paddle backwards parallel to shore at different distances until I find some fish. Doesn't always work but it's helped me out many times.
  24. I have mine organized in an old Caselogic CD binder that I never used. Drop them in the sleeve and zipper it up. Just make sure they're dry first...
  25. Did well fishing Mead this spring using black/blue jig with black paca chunk trailer. Orange/brown jig with natural craw baby paca trailer. Lastly, green pumpkin/red flake paca craw jika rigged. Haven't been out since it hit low 100's and all my fishing spots are now dry...
