  1. It is interesting to think how that bass caught that swallow. Have you ever thrown a lure and it seemed like you threw it right into the open mouth of a bass? It has happened to me and I wondered if the fish saw it coming.
  2. 4" Yum Dinger catches far more fish, for me, than 5". No need to know why, just go with what works.
  3. I could be wrong (it has happened a time or two) but more noise = more friction to my thinking. I don't worry about it if I know my guides will take the wear.
  4. This is the deal that most of you have voiced. How this has come to be confused is that the method of hooking an offset hook into a plastic is often referred to as "Texposed".
  5. What he said. Rats are hard on everything. I would be sure that each rod is laid straight. I hate to see rods leaned into corners. (not that you intend to do that)
  6. Learn to work the bait with both hands and alternate rigs.
  7. I would have to disagree with this. Like Delaware said, for tip down applications, you don't want to be slaping the water. I fish with as long a rod as I can get away with, within reason. The main advantage to a long rod is that it takes up more line on the hook set. Casting distance would be second. Amount of line out for flipping or pitching would be third.
  8. I heard that one is in China and the other is in Russia!
  9. Caught and ate a juvenile Black Sea Bass years ago, in ignorance. It was delicious! Ding Dong. Well, hello officer, how can I help you today?
  10. With deals like these there is no reason not to have a scale in your pocket. I just bought two more to give as gifts to my lying fisherman friends! Great scales! Super easy to use and very accurate! http://www.ebay.com/itm/20g-40Kg-Pocket-Digital-Scale-Electronic-Hanging-Luggage-Balance-Weight-/171155983110?pt=US_Pocket_Digital_Scales&hash=item27d9b10b06
  11. All of the above. You might also try a heavier bait, or one with a different configuration to the weighted hook. Some are shaped to plane, others, not so much.
  12. All I know is there is a "Toy Story" connection here somewhere!?
  13. Only go to school if you have a specific goal. Too many wasting time and money in college without a clue what they want to do Also, quit stringing that girl along, marry her already!
  14. Square bill or jerk bait.
  15. I'm stuck on the losing 30 feet of line comment. Are you cutting your line instead of breaking it at the knot? If so, why? Wrap the line around something like a stick, point your rod directly toward the snag and back up! The line will break or the hook will straighten out. In a tube that can be very difficult!
  16. You said you are getting hit the way you are fishing it. I would say you are fishing it right!
  17. Best to set something up ahead of time on local boards, if such exist. Around here it is not a "nominal fee" that a rider pays, it is both permits and the launch fee: $23. Plus it is a good idea to put some cash toward gas. The boat operator has a ton of expenses that most non-boat owners never think about. You need to be an asset, not just a ride-along.
  18. When it first came out it was really cheap. Everybody knows that nothing cheap can be any good. After all, all the reels that I am happy with year in and year out are all (except one) under $100. I must be happy with junk, right???
  19. Go fishing!
  20. Very nice! Those are not nearly as ugly as most carp.
  21. That is a much older reel than any I have. If it has a clicker it is not in the same place as the 6000 series. It would be a slide switch on the edge of the left side, just below the blue and yellow squares.
  22. I have a few that I use mainly for the salt. They cast like a dream and when a fish is running you have to look at the spool to tell if drag is being taken. The clicker on the 6000 series make them perfect for the Cats!
