  1. When I put new door hatches on mine, I encapsulated the wood with fiberglass resin. Did not want to give the water any opportunity to invade.
  2. This page says there are Bass, but it seems it is a mostly cold water species lake. http://www.fishsniffer.com/locations/lakes/almanor/
  3. I see those spin shot hooks are popular on this site. I have yet to meet someone who uses them out here in So Cal. We use very small octopus or dropshot hooks. In weeds a small EWG is in order. I think maybe the super clear water here makes the spin shot hooks too visible. Most guys here use 5-6 lb FC line, again due to the clear water.
  4. San Vicente. They raised the Dam 100'. It was the best lake around these parts before they closed it. Can you say "World Record Bass?"
  5. If you were talking 2015 I would suggest San Diego. Our biggest lake, that has been closed for going on 6 years will reopen. Should be epic! Supposed to open 11/15. We'll see.
  6. Some guys have mentioned keeping tension on the line when not in the water. That is done by pinching the line between your pointer finger and thumb on your non-cranking hand. When using the reel in the water you will be palming the reel with this hand.
  7. When I am dropshot fishing I set on any tap. I am more concerned about the fish swallowing the hook than spitting it. I rarely miss a dropshot bite.
  8. When you live in the desert that is called San Diego, you long for something green!!!
  9. Wow, do you live there??? What a beautiful place. I would definitely try a soft jerk bait!
  10. Says he just "gets lucky" this time of year. I've never seen a smoother pitching motion! If ever there was a natural, he is it! He also said he is ready to go should there be a game 7. Royals gotta hate that prospect!
  11. As my friends say, "and you don't even eat the fish!!!"
  12. Drop senkos into pockets. It would be tough to punch with that setup.
  13. Brady who?
  14. Thanks, much cleaner than some I've seen!
  15. I fish with a friend who has a small boat with a casting deck up front and back. I have never felt secure on the deck. I stand in the bottom of the boat in the middle. In doing so, I make it more stable for the both of us. I would suggest putting in a low platform so that you are not dealing with the ribs under your feet.
  16. I heard that a fella named Peter caught a fish with a gold coin in its mouth!
  17. I've tried using electrical tape to take up slop in reel seats. Did not work for me. Layers of aluminum foil worked better. I still think there must be a better fix.
  18. I'd be more worried about that sagging table!
  19. BBQ rotisserie motor works great!
  20. Line watching is more important than line touching, IMO.
  21. Enjoyable read. Way to help the kid. I remember my dad handed me an old Shakesphere baitcaster and said be careful to thumb the spool when you cast. Everyone around me was catching nice Corvina (Salton Sea) and I spent all morning trying to untangle my line. Horrible memory!
  22. Should be good! Was the first stuff to spill out foamy? I don't know how acessible the fill port on yours is, but mine is a pain. I fill it with a syringe.
  23. Some great stuff, right there! Get yourself a float tube. It will pay for itself in lost tackle!
  24. Who takes a golf cart fishing??? JK! You guys are so lucky! If we get one crash-bang storm a year we consider ourselves fortunate! Praying for rain in So Cal!
