  1. In clear water I want to use something that is the color of the bottom I am fishing. Usually that is GP.
  2. I have two of them. Very nice reels and that is a great price.
  3. Some of the 1/4 pound spools are worse that the fillers because the diameter is smaller, making a tighter coiled memory. Probably not a big deal becase the line will develop the memory of the reel spool quickly. I don't much care for the coily stuff!
  4. Mariners? Are they a Hockey team? Sorry about the thread jack!
  5. A Rod??? Man I hate explaining my jokes!
  6. I'm just glad this was not a baseball question!
  7. These days I doubt the percentage is that high!
  8. Absolutely! It is not a vertical-only technique. I thought that too, at first. With a 2" tag line, that thing is just like a t-rig with more action. Let the weight stay in place and ever-so-gently shake the slack. It is killer!
  9. What do you have against the Drop Shot ? Tons of fish caught on that method and not just little ones. My two biggest have come on DS. BTW there are many variations that could not be considered finesse.
  10. Fifth graders??? Got a back-up plan?
  11. I use a Soron SXT. I like it but I don't think they make it anymore. The braid-ready spool is a gimmick. All you need in some mono on the spool or some electrician's tape. Just something so the braid does not slip.
  12. In all fairness, I did not know your PB in your profile was referencing that fish. I thought you were saying that the pictured fish was your new PB making it bigger than 7 lbs. I think your fish could push 6lbs.
  13. Yep, that looks like a Blue.
  14. In the future you might check sdfish.com for SoCal fishing info.
  15. The only thing I can add to this is that ebay is a good place to find those sneaky good reels. The popular reels always have long bidding wars, to the point of going above the "Buy it Now" price. But, if you know from experience that a certain underated reel is good, you can get some reel deals! (pun intended) Example: A Pflueger Trion baitcasting reel is a silkly smooth performer and I have picked up several for under $40.
  16. According to your profile that is not your PB.
  17. I think that first fish might be a Channel. Judging by the anal fin.
  18. Too much tackle is what the guy has that I compare myself with when my wife says I have too much tackle.
  19. I would be leary of something designed to let loose!
  20. What I want to know is are fake Senkos as good as the real thing???
  21. It is the annoying fish-eye lens on the Go Pro. Warps everything out of proportion!
  22. 36 and clear last night down here a little farther south. Had to pull up another blanket on the bed and drain the water out of my solar panels. SoCal is tough! Also our football team will not have to suffer any of those cold temps in the east.
  23. Nothing is too big to dropshot. Yes, it is usually thought of as a finesse techique, but it is also just another way to present the bait at a certain place in the water column. I like to find the depth of the weeds and adjust my tag line to have my bait just over them.
  24. Check out the Ardent Denny Brauer swimbait rod. I throw an S-waver with it.
  25. You know you are an old fisherman when every shirt you own has some kind of fish on it.
