  1. Fly rod bass are quite fun, Its just not as versatile.
  2. I was down by the Mississippi river near St. Louis, MO. And a fisherman told me that there was good bass fishing in the main channel. The water is very turbid and flows fast. It was the main channel of the Mississippi river. I always catch drum, carp, and catfish. The water is fast and its generally not safe for swimming. I know that bass and other sunfish will inhabit back water sloughs and such, What do you all know about this?
  3. Anything that bites. Trout are fun and Big river fish put up a real fight. Don't really like messing with Gar. We don't have much around my part of the country without a 2 hour drive. Its either sunfishes, catfish, carp, and drum
  4. I have caught 5 gar this year on night crawlers and a 4/0 circle hook. I have read over and over that it is hard to get a good hook set. Tell that to the gar.
  5. I use night crawlers because they catch everything. The rig I use for the river is a 2-3 ounce no roll sinker followed by a swivel than a leader of 12-24 inches and hook. Sometimes I use a float to get the bait off the bottom If I don't get a bite within 20 min. I move it
  6. I catch them frequently with night crawlers when I am fishing the back water slews of the Mississippi. Even with a 2 ounce weight they still take the bait. I use 4/0 circle hooks and have no problem with hook ups . Carp usually come out and surface at dusk and dawn to feed. Even with murky water you can see them feeding.
  7. When I was about 4 years of age I had a tick get into my ear canal.
  8. I just fish from my plastic bubble. Never need to touch the outside
  9. Wash your clothes, check your car, and check your body and head for more ticks. I have gotten into a lot of ticks over the years. Sometimes it takes a day or 2 for them to come out. If you have pets than check them as well. No need for bug bombs unless you have an infestation which you don't.
  10. for me with murky/muddy water. I use a lot of dark colors for jigs and soft plastics. Lots of Green Pumpkin or black for jigs and same for plastics. For Crankbaits and spinnerbaits chartreuse/white and fire tiger. Some anglers say Green pumpkin is not good in murky water but I have had a lot of success. Not real experienced with clear water.
  11. Thanks Raul. There are no facts, only interpretations.
  12. What situation do you use low and slow?
  13. I have gotten more out of fishing than I have ever gotten out of therapy for $100/hour.
  14. Interested in how people retrieve spinnerbaits? Or what conditions call for different retrieves? I run them high and fast, trying to create a wake in the water. Alright now go...
  15. Late spring, early fall and constant steady rain. These for me are good crank bait days.
  16. I would try it. The lakes near by are polluted. Most waters in the STL area are pretty bad.
  17. Ever seen the Bass Pro KVD 3 DVD collection. He says almost every catch. "Nice fish, yeah". and then releases it. where I live over 3lbs is pretty nice but I am happy with 2+ lbs.
  18. I am ambidextrous, Baitcasters I cast left or right(left 90%) hand and real with the right. Spinning I cast right and real left. Fly rod I cast with both left and right. I write with my right hand but draw with the left. Do what ever is comfortable.
  19. I suspect a lot of people fish without a License. I see people breaking game laws often and just being plain careless. Lot of it is just greed. Like fishing with 8 poles when the place only allows 2.
  20. I fish a pond that is loaded with grass/weeds. You can load your bait with pond grass every cast if your not careful/ Most people get discouraged and leave. So be careful what you wish for. I have fished enough to find the holes and channels and where the bass lay. I often catch a 1lb bass and 5lbs of grass around him.
  21. About 2 years ago I caught a monster Longear sunfish on a fly rod. It was over 1 foot long. I had never caught a longear before and was confused about it being an off color Bluegill. I usually catch bigger sunfish on the fly VS anything conventional.
  22. I have been looking into making bass jig skirts. Wanting to use a pre made jig head and then tie the skirt. From the price comparisons I have done, it appears to be the same cost outcome,Compared to the normal Booyah jigs I buy. Is it possible to actually save when tying Jig skirts? $1.00/jig would be worth the effort. Is this possible?
  23. Just like Bass become conditioned to spinner baits. Yet, they consistently work at the right times. Humans will always be fooled by fish. That is why fishing is so much fun.
  24. Right here. The trailer must match the jig.
  25. Any where the fish are. Although Lilly Pads provide a challenge
