  1. Im going to end up going both. 893 for now then 894 when I can feel okay about how much money I have spent on gear in the last few days. Thanks again everyone!
  2. Last question guys. My arsenal will hopefully be complete after this purchase. I cannot decide for the life of me between these two. I may eventually end up needing both but I need to choose one for now. I mainly fish Lake of the Ozarks. The cover consists of docks and some brush piles but nothing too heavy. I spend a lot of time with jigs and plastics around these docks as well as deeper water on points. I never find myself flipping grass mats or anything like that. There is a lot of open water. Which of these rods would do best? I was hoping to use one rod for 1/4 oz shaky heads up to 3/4 oz jigs. Maybe even some weightless senkos. Typically run 12-16 lb test. Thanks for the help
  3. So then let me ask this. Why the medium power rod for light jigs/plastics over a medium/heavy? Is there any downside to using a medium/heavy rod for lighter line/baits? thanks
  4. Im basically referring to finesse fishing and the like. I see people recommending medium rods all the time when it comes to lighter plastics.
  5. What is the main reason that medium power/mod action rods are recommended for lighter lures when it comes to plastics/finesse jigs? Is it due to the ease of casting lighter baits with a rod that is not as stiff? Or is it mainly due to the med/hvy and heavy/ fast x fast rods being too stiff for a hook set with lighter baits? Can you really not get away with finesse jigs/ shaky head type approaches when using a med/heavy fast or x fast rod? For example, using a medium/heavy rod rated for 3/8 to 1oz lures with a 1/4 oz shaky head. Is the issue that that a lighter/moderate action will cast easier or is the concern that the rod is too stiff on the hook set? Thanks
  6. So I switched up the plan a bit. I decided to go a different route with the cranking reel. I am now looking for just one baitcaster. This thing needs to be capable of handling light finesse jigs/worms up to heavier jigs and plastics. Basically an all around jig/plastic reel. My budget is $300-$450. I am willing to go a bit higher if it is worth the jump. Part of me wants to just grab a Chronarch MGL and run with it but this is going to be the reel I use the most and I need to know if I am missing out staying below $300. This reel will most likely end up on a loomis GLX or NRX so I would prefer something light to balance well. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
  7. I plan on heading to BassPro at some point this week. Need to pick up a couple rods as well. Just stuck on this reel choice for my plastics/jigs. There are almost too many options out there.
  8. Haven't purchased a new reel in quite some time. Very overwhelmed with all of the options out there. I need an all purpose reel for plastics, jigs, etc and then a reel for crankbaits. I am looking at the new Shimano Curado DC for the cranks but I am lost on my next choice. I am very interested in trying something from Daiwa but there are just so many options. Between the Tatula SV TW, the Tatula Extreme, and the Zillion I cannot decide if the step up in price is worth it. I am also seeing a lot of people talk about the Tatula SV TW as a light weight set up. Can this not be used for lightweight plastics as well as heavier jigs? Please let me know what you all think or if you have any other recommendations. I really appreciate any help. Thanks
  9. I just feel like there must still be some big fish in there. It wasn't more than three years ago when they were pulling out big ones! But if it is overpopulated does that really mean there isn't a single big bass around?
  10. So I've been fishing a 40 acre private lake that I live on out of a little pontoon. The lake is spring fed and used to be a rock quarry. The water is fairly clearly and gets to 80 feet deep in the middle of the lake with some cliffs with steep drop offs. I've been having a lot of luck catching many 10-12 inch bass. But I have yet to catch anything with any size. This lake was known to have bass in the 5-8 lb range in the years before I moved here and I'm starting to think that it may be overpopulated. Is it possible. That there really aren't any fish over 12 inches. I've been fishing it very regularly and have caught over 100 in the 10-12 inch range. It looks like I'm catching the exact same fish over and over! The water temp is around 80 and there is quite bit of grass on the surface of the lake in many spots. Pleaseeeee help me figure something out. I'm tired of catching little guys. And yes I've tried using larger presentations. Thanks for any help
