  1. Yum bought the design, but they still have the 3.5 and 5.5? So they are just selling the rest of what they have built or did they just buy rights to the one size?
  2. I hadn't seen the 4.2 BT bombs, I looked em up and found a few used ones but they were old posts...we would like to purchase a 4 cavity if anybody has one for sale
  3. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt, and could care less to do it again. My dad is a machinist, and without access to a mill where we can do what we like to call "Government Jobs" its a pain in the ass. Let alone, the materials almost cost as much as some of the molds you can buy.
  4. I'm not looking to rip off Mr. Moore with his beaver patent, like the many posts we have all seen trying to build his baits. People are always trying to copy his baits, and they always want to copy the body of the bait and then put a different tail on them. In my opinion, I'm more concerned about a slim profile tail like his baits have. BassTackle makes a BT bomb, but you only get the choice of the big size or the smaller. Any suggestions on a "Beaver" style bait with a slimmer tail profile?
  5. We have experimented with a little bit of the kool-aid mix, just the little paper packet deals.
  6. Up here in Southeast Iowa, we have two active female members. One of who has won the Non-Boaters side of the points many times in he 15 years of being in the Lake Cooper Anglers Assn. out of Ft Madison Iowa
  7. Our club is actually looking for some more non boaters! Feel free to jump on www.lakecooperangling.com and find some more info. My phone number is on there and feel free to give me a call! We fish some down at memphis, and every once in awhile we go to hazel creek! Let me know!
  8. Best advice I ever got with deciding on layout of molds was talking to the local mold builder. He builds molds for hard plastic things, and high pressure injection, but he still understands where to put runners, and where to not put runners to prevent some baits not filling completely.
  9. Most defiantly, get some jig and soft plastic molds...that'll take up some time...its what we did all winter too. I found myself fixing around 35 rods for guys in the area also
  10. I appreciate the help guys, ill ask our guy and see if this is something he would like
  11. Is there such a thing? We have this little "Tackle Business" and we pretty much have one local guy that keeps us busy with ordering stuff, cause he is one of those guys, if he catches fish on one lure, he will need another 200 of them lol He is interested in a weedless tube jig, and I haven't seen one on the internet. Any ideas guys? Im not above buying a used mold or something and doing some modifying. Most are also thinking that it would be kind of dumb to buy a mold for one guys order...well, the guy im speaking of heard about 5 years back that Reaction Inovations was going to close up shop...he bought 100 BAGS off corndog color beavers hahaha he still has 3 two gallon bags full of them
  12. We are selling a few jigs per year...and with my math...we have to sell 100 jigs at $3 to make buying the molds worth our time...we sell jigs and blade baits...and when I ordered stuff for the blade baits, the hooks that are used for the mold that we were going to get were $12 per 25... We are paying $16 for 25 jigs already painted, ready for a skirt... just my two cents(Kind of piggybacking on what Jiggin said.) Barlows is a good joint too! They are a bit behind schedule now, cause they were held up with that recent snow and ice storm. Quick story with them, my credit card was compromised on the internet in the middle of an order, lucky for me, they called me and asked for a new credit card number, instead of throwing our order in the trash, and putting us another week behind on a jig order we had. Great group down there... Im in the southeast corner of Iowa, and ive seen orders ordered Monday evening be on my doorstep by Thursday afternoon.
  13. We are having all kinds of ideas coming in to the club about how to gain more members, and I would like to make it known that we have just gained our first member through this website. We would like to welcome Jig4Pigs to the Lake Cooper Anglers Assn! So keep that in mind people...you never know what you say on here might gain you (or loose you!)
  14. You must have been on the forum...the forum has kind of went by the wayside, because a club with about 25 active members isn't enough to keep a forum going... but the website is up to date, my partner that I make baits with runs that. But like I said, we will have a meeting this Thursday the 19th, we would love to see ya there
  15. My opinion, and I did the same thing you did! I had 5 of the molds your talking about, and my suggestion is to buy a used injector from somebody, and get one of the $30 essentials series from do it baits if you want to go the cheap route. I tried the molds your talking about...and I don't think I ever made a good bait with them. It is so much easier when we spend the $75 or so to get an injector and mold...now we have about 12 molds and multiple injectors...good group of guys on here too...lot of expertise that helped me get started
  16. Well it just so turns out that I am the President and Tournament Director...lol Jump on www.lakecooperangling.com, my number is there if you want some more information. Our meeting this month will be on the 19th. And it will be our big meeting, because dues are due. Being a new member you will need a sponsor, and I can sponsor you in. We meet at the Fort Madison Elks Lodge
  17. I've used a lot of Numb's advice, and he told us to start with baitjunkys. Acutally my first post on here was "Best Plastisol" and many pointed us towards baitjunkys. In our experience, we bought a gallon from a separate company, and it was junk. It sepperated when sitting for to long, it was full of bubbles, and just wasn't making good baits for us(could have been we weren't too educated at the time.) We have used about seven gallons of baitjunkys degased...and it is outstanding.
  18. Ok my partner and I have been pouring some baits for awhile now, we have came up with a "Chili-Craw" laminated color, the problem is, we don't like the whole top half of the bait being black. We have heard of painting them, but have no clue where to start. Our biggest issue is, do you have to dip them in clear afterwards? Because if so, we are not interested in painting them, we don't want people out on the water "skinning" our baits like the Shadilicious baits hahahaha Thanks Guys Shawn
  19. I am going to have to look around and most likely consider batson...I am not having the best time with mudhole. They can be awesome, have a package at my door in three days, and ive seen them all the way out to 4 days before they even ship my stuff...
  20. So can you run them as slow as an original Chatterbait? That's mostly what I was concerned with, because our early spring is spent with a Chatterbait going as slow as possible while still getting the blade to work
  21. We are looking at the Arky style jig molt to make chatterbait style baits with. I'm trying to decide if I like them having a split ring between jig and the blade...Opinions? Will they act the same? Or is there a different mold that I should try. I know its not a fully tacklemaking question, but I trust you guys on here haha (I also like the versatility of being able to make the chatterbaits and jigs in the same mold also)
  22. We do not have an account with them yet, we are waiting on our tax ID number... like I said, we are pretty green
  23. My newly started business partner and I are interested in becoming a wholesaler with a rod building company. We are starting a custom soft plastic, jig, crankbait, and rod shop. Nothing big, and we are both keeping our town jobs! So in that, we will not have a storefront, but would like to become a wholesaler to at least try and make prices a little cheaper for people. I have been ordering from Mudhole, but the shipping all the way to Iowa is a little cashy, and takes a little while. We only project to sell about two dozen rods in a year, so like I said, we are not going to be able to spend $5000 a year with a company. Who is the best company to get with in a wholesale program? Thanks Guys
  24. Oh that lipless crank looks sexy...
  25. So you would use the BLAG4 guides before you would use the Microwave ones?
