Tried a few times before off deer island, off the chain bridge. Used cut squid, live shiners, worms, but still no luck. Thanks for the suggestion though.
I personally don't like power bait. Find some shelter or obstruction in the current, like some rocks. The trout will hide here. Cast over them and use rooster tails, panther Martin inline spinners, and spoons. Best spoon is a red dare devil. Trout only live in clear well oxygenated fast water. Good luck.
All good suggestions. If your cheap like me, all you need is a 2liter bottle. Cut it in half, take the top half stick it in the bottom half. The top of the bottle where the cap would go should now face inward. Secure the two pieces with clear tape. Throw in some cheese whiz for bait. Alternatives for bait are crumbs and corn. If I'm not clear enough, google soda bottle minnow trap.
Pickeral are aggressive, but I like them. They grow large up north and are fun to catch when the bass ain't biting, like in cold weather. Fish that annoy me, tiny bluegill s that strip my hook clean and snapping turtles. Trying getting a hook out of one of those, they have no fight either when being pulled in.
Found a old jar of Mike's salmon eggs, scent could gag a maggot. Think I can mix it with something for catfish bait or dilute it for a scent atractant ?
