  1. Are wacky rigs all that effective? They look like they have a lot of action but at what cost? They look like they snag easier, are harder to set the hook with, and get torn up quicker. Do you all have any experience with them?
  2. Hard baits all the way. I only use plastics when I am out if hard bait options. Plastics can get destroyed after one fish; can be expensive ( senkos); and just don't produce like my hard baits.
  3. Oh man I forgot about the helicopter lures. I own some. Great in concept; stupid in action. Never caught a thing with them.
  4. Wierdest lure I own is a three segment broken back 8inch pike. Wierdest I have seen would be either the rubber field mice or the abogast buzz plug.
  5. For me it's been shallow divers jerked like a jerkbait. Also poppers late afternoon, and small spoons.
  6. Many of these responses have a common problem. They want to use inline spinners or beatle spins. Just because you have lures doesn't mean you have a reel to get those lures reeling fast enough to work properly. Have you ever tried hand lining a inline spinners it doesn't work. I would want bait holder hooks ranging from size 10 to 1 and some split shot. I could also spear or trap my fish. There is such thing as the fishing equivalent of a spring snare.
  7. Seriously that's not rock and roll. I have a name for that but I'll show some restraint. ACDC, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin that's rock and roll. I eat, breath, and dump rock and roll. You want some good stuff you ask me.I know my "expletive"
  8. I feel you man. At least you have a classic the one that got away story.
  9. The Shawshank redemption, saving private Ryan, pulp fiction, rocky 4, Torino
  10. It's a good it sounds like it all worked out. At least you won't have to wonder now.
  11. Tom Hanks, Clint Eastwood, that guy who played Andy Dufrain in the Sheehan redemption. As far as actresses, I'm not looking at their acting. I get distracted.
  12. This was a typical conversation when I started driving. Me: whistling, all relaxed, just cruising, taking it in. Mom: quit looking at the girls, watch the road. Me: I wasn't I'm just observing my surroundings so I can react accordingly. Mom: "silence"
  13. I'm fishing the Amazon with Jeremy Wade, river monsters here I come. Might have to borrow some gear though.
  14. Suck up your pride and use live bait so they will. They will catch a boat load of panfish, maybe a bass or two on worms. Then when they get the fever have them use proven simple lures. Inline spinners being a good example. Small ones with light gear will catch any fish, and the lure is as simple as reeling it in, no real technique. Good luck.
  15. You guys missed a some stuff. You all forgot to mention duct tape. I can't count how many fishing trips would have sucked with out it. Also a flashlight, your fishing licenses, rope maybe, and a mini survival kit for those remote trout streams.
  16. Try it, you never now. It might be your next go to jig. Whats the worst that could happen? You try it, fail, look stupid, everybody laughs at you, you cry yourself to death, now I feel guilty for encouraging you.
  17. Rapala floating minnow, great bass catcher, more versatile than one thinks. Inline spinners also.
  18. I'm gonna hope Raul wasn't serious because if he was, I'm coming moving to Leon, Mexico. But one lure might not work ten minutes from now, not for most of day tomorrow, not at all the next day, and all day after that.
  19. That's some real good work, those homemade lures. How much does it cost to make those if you don't mind me asking. Also I would agree about trailer hooks when it comes to anything really, they snag more than they hook fish. Any recommendations for a choice of trailer though? Curly tale grub, pork rinds ?
  20. I don't own a boat us all I do is cast. Anyway I appreciate the tips from everyone. Also senkos have to be the most popular lure there is. So dang expensive though. Round here 7 or 8 bucks for a little pack. I don't really use them much. I'd rather sling a Rapala original floating minnow or the likes, both catch fish great though.
  21. Only had one chatterbait and lost it two casts in with no fish. What replacement should i buy? Zman baits, a safety pin type, colors? Also how can I best use it?
  22. Personally I love wordens flat fish lures. But I never here anyone talk about them. Jiging spoons are never discussed, I have never used them. Ditto for chatterbaits. As far as bait common beatle type insects found everywhere. They kill panfish. Good for when your out of worms and don't wanna dig.
  23. Anyone who fishes huge rivers could probably answer this. How do you fish a gigantic river from shore. I live very close to the Connecticut river and its literally a half mile across. The current is also strong enough to drag around saltwater gear like it was nothing.what do I do to catch fish with dinky freshwater stuff. I can only cast so far with so much wieght. Am I doomed? Should I break out my ten foot surf rod?
  24. Bass will spit your gear out just like any other fish. It's called setting the hook with live stuff and proper presentation with lures. I can't remember the last bass to bump a lure without inhaling out. By the way if there's a sensitivity problem then rest a finger directly on the line. This only works with monofiliment though, braid will cut you and I never used florocarbon.
  25. Noodling counts. Funny comments, but I figured some one might try it with me. What a bunch kill joys.
