  1. I use size 1 up size 2/0 mosquito hooks and let them load up before putting the heat on them.
  2. Yes there was a tournament angler that puts KVD in 2nd place. Roland Martin owned the tour like no one else ever will. Now KVD is the reigning king and even Aaron Martens is still 2nd rate to him.
  3. I use them for deep fish and switch to a wider gap hook for shallow.
  4. I use 1/0 and have never had a problem. Unless you are using circle hooks and setting the hook. If they are circle hooks just wind into the fish, never set the hook.
  5. If you want to check water temps? Go to fisherie.com then go to the weather and wave page. Click on the bottom line.
  6. Yes the earliest they have come in is the second week of May. Water temps on the lake have not reached 40 yet and it is a slow process with that much water to warmup. You can srill catch them out on the lake then and sometimes it gets silly how easy it is. I have a camp near by and this is my biggest reason and walleye is my wife's biggest reason. if you have never been there you can contact me And we can go over the hot spots. We could even meet up there as I will be there 3 days a week starting May 7.
  7. Tubes, dropshots, swimbaits, jerkbaits, and blades are all that is needed in the bay area. But most of the fish are going to be still in the lake at that time. They won't be in numbers in the bay till mid May to Mid June.
  8. *** jigs are the best I have ever used. Lose one a year and fish them a lot.
  9. Pennsylvania is terrible if you don't count Erie. State only stocks trout, musky and walleye. Lakes all have been depleted from the Amish keeping everything they catch. and every decent lake is highly pressured with tournaments every weekend. We also have long winters with ice being on the lakes but usually not safe except for about 1-1/2 months. Look at the Classic in Pittsburgh 1# fish ad very few limits, welcome to our tournaments.
  10. all day until one hits it
  11. go to fish usa on rte 20 they have lots of great rods and reels and staff that are experts
  12. use 6# flouro leader and dwn size everything. size 14 or smaller hooks and single eggs or minnies.
  13. I love Erie pa. with smallmouth, walleye, steelhead, brown trout, lake trout, channel catfish, largemouth, perch, crappie, pike, musky and burbot. But I have to give it to Kissimee, Fla. an hour from the gulf, an hour from the atlantic and the indian river, not to mention the 3 outstanding big bass lakes East and West Toho, and Kissimee, minutes away.
  14. my navigation on the boat will get me anywhere and back. I fish Lake Erie and two big river impoundments like SML and have never been lost. When I say I fish erie I mean 13 miles out where you can't see the shore.
  15. Thanks, I know big smallies so that would fit my style. And heck any smallie is fun to catch.
  16. thanks guys I was planning on using swimbaits and c-rigs on points and wacky rigs, dropshots and t-rigged lizards around cover. We will be staying on long point way up the roanoke river is there good fishig near there or should we rundown the lake?
  17. That big girl went right back in. I won't eat them that big.
  18. Great story and awesome fish.
  19. I am going to SML in April for the first time and I am having trouble finding much info on th lake. I want to know what kind of forage and is there any shallow weeds or all wood and rock? Any info would be greatly appreciated as I only have two days to fish.
  20. Yes caught it right in front of the stacks
  21. the lure I was using is a bayrat short shallowdiver in orange and black. We don't troll spoons in 5 fow . inline planer boards with 40 feet of line to the lure gets it done when the steelies get in shore.
  22. I CAUGHT THIS MONSTER TROLLING FOR STEELHEAD. 1/2 HOUR TO LAND ON 10 LB MONO.
  23. Jackall crosstail shad, 3-4" and senkos
  24. My wife goes with me, so we fish all day and sometimes hang around for some catfishing at night. we fished everyday of our 10 day vacation, only leaving the water early, 3 P.M., one day.
  25. Add wilhelm lake to the list 2 days on the water and 2 slobs for us.
