I feel everyone should actually set the drag using a scale or weight before trying to do it by feel. I was blown away how much drag 5 lbs was lol let alone ten.
I cant find any upgrade parts for this reel. I would like to get into the hedgehog style reel upgrades. Can you guys recomend a good reel to use as a canvas for my first build. Thanks
I feel that it is important to identify weeds. I have found that the fish in my area, when given the choice, will be in or around one plant over another. Some weeds are emergent and some stay under water. Learning more about weeds has made me a better fisherman.
A local shop is clearing out a bunch of inventory. I dont want to get ripped off. The rods are batson rainshadows. Nice cork grips. They seem really nice. Just looking for feedback on purchasing handmade tackle. Please no obvious statements. I dont mean to be rude but theres been alot of that. Thanks guys.
Something i learned is to work on a large surface. There are lots of little springs, clips and spaces that can go flying. Some of the clips can be super hard to find if they fall on the floor.
I've caught some monsters. Just trying to learn more. I fish jigs as much as possible. I fish early, late and hard, and I'm probably fishing 3 plus days a week. My last big fish was 26 inches, I had no scale! I hear stories of guys like Tom catching hundreds of DD bass. I want more!!!
Thanks 00 mod. Much more informative. Several ponds and small lakes in my area hold big fish. Water temps here are still 60 plus. I've caught some big girls out here. Just trying.g to get some perspective on size over quantity.
I recently started "stretching" my fluorocarbon. About every week or so I hook my line to a tree or fence post and walk all the line out. Then I gently stretch it. Works wonders.
