  1. When I got out of my truck to launch I felt that little cold breeze and knew something was brewing. Boat stayed on the trailer even though I planned to fish a few hundred yards from the launch. It was a good move. I seldom mess with the main lake anymore. Too many places to launch to run very far by boat.
  2. Anybody got caught in the weather blowup Friday afternoon? Got ugly quick.
  3. Im using brass and never had an issue. I actually bought a bunch of the wired up rigs for around 3 bucks each a while back. When I need to rig up I just cut the wire off and have the bead, weight and swivel. easy to store and all in one place when needed. BF,, I would need to take a guide trip with you and let you look at my birds. Are you using the Helix units. I went from a 10 to a 7 up front because it gets in the way when fishing down here. I can't get the 7 sensitivity right. I sent it back and no issues found but I can see a lot more on the 10 at the console. Thinking about getting another 10 for up front when I go to Toledo. The 7 is actually supposed to be better than the 10 I have.
  4. falcon 7'2" MH 40 lb spiderwire invisi braid main line (20 lb sunline sniper if real clear) no difference except between the ears for me. better hookup with braid seems like 3/4 to 1 oz bullet weight with glass bead 2' leader 14lb trilene xt 3 or 4 0 offset round bend hook baby brush hog, ultra vibe worm, rage craw, senko but will drag almost anything lizard from feb-april too I fish a little softer rod than most, like to load it up good before the hook set. Braid mainline makes up for the softer rod. Always a long side drag hookset(which was very few hooksets this week) I didn't mark a lot of fish in six mile. Saw a few here and there but no groups unless they are really stuck to the bottom. lots of bait real deep. I'm thinking as it gets hotter they will start piling up better for those of us that are depth challenged. I want to think the combination of post spawn and the lake falling a little pulled them out quick and scattered, but I think I could get on the hay grass edge and bang out a good limit. Bite there not fast and furious but when you can find the new growth grass on the outside of the haygrass in 5-10 feet you can catch some solid fish if you fish patiently.
  5. Well, Six Mile Creek is muddy now after I drug a 1oz Carolina rig up and down it for a few days. Not a lot of catching. Managed a few keepers per trip morning and afternoon. Most keepers were near or on the main lake stuff I fished. I was excited to see some grass making a comeback. I found the fish to be everywhere but no where in particular. Never found a good group. Caught fish on spinnerbait, frog, worm, ole monster, brush hog, swim jig, jig, crank bait, senko, top water but not a lot on any one in particular. Tough trip, not much of a report, but good to get back up there.
  6. I'm hearing the same thing Catt. also hearing big baits on the C-rig. I'll finally be up there this afternoon and check it out.
  7. Finally made it up there. Fished for a couple of days. Fishing was not bad, not fast and furious. No big fish. Did catch several in the 3-4 lb range. A good bit of 2-3 lb fish also. Probably 20 or so per day. One day they loved the jig, the next day it was all brush hog. Didn't have time to explore much deep stuff. All fish shallow, but not as shallow as I thought they would be. It was nice to be back, it had been over a year since I fished there.
  8. I'm trying to get up there this week. How is the boat traffic little fish?
  9. BF,,is the waterfront property unrestricted? Thats LA side Negreet?
  10. Little Fish, shoot me a link of where I can get one of those guns. Words of wisdom Catt, I agree. I've been fishing up there for years and really don't know a whole lot more than when I started. It takes a lot of quality time on the water to really get on them regularly. My problem is, I fish tournaments down here and go there to fun fish. So I fish a few hours at a time, catch enough to make me happy and go in and take a nap. I would need to fish some tournaments there to get my butt in gear and do some work finding fish.
  11. Looks like a perfect day to be jerking up a few Sac's in the Coop..........
  12. Anybody have water temps main lake and coves north and south?
  13. It sure has been quiet in here. What's going on up there?
  14. Catt, I feel your pain. Only been twice this year. The crowds early on really turned me off. Hopefully that gets better. If not, I'll probably have a place for sale.
  15. I'm wondering if its worth making a trip up there. guess I wont know unless I go.
  16. Kinda tough on me Saturday. Morning trip caught 11 total with 2 maybe 3 keepers. Small fish. Saturday afternoon was worse. 6 fish total with 2 small keepers again. At least I got a few to pull on the line.
  17. All I can tell you about them is they are hard and flat with very few fish around them. Its not an expert opinion by a long shot but I don't fish rattles in anything. I know some who swear by them. I just keep it simple as I can
  18. I have run across a couple of hard spots off Mcgees. Don't know what they are. Driveways? concrete slabs? Maybe someone here knows.
  19. Might be able to get up there this weekend. It's been a while. I gotta dig up the old monsters, 6xds , and football jigs if I can find them.
  20. Its time for a couple of boats to start going north. Our grass might grow a little if it did not get a haircut every day from the 22 million boats trolling in it
  21. I spent a few hours back there Friday.
  22. Mostly in six mile
  23. Happy Easter all! Finally got back to the pond for a short trip. Thursday afternoon and Friday 7 fish total. You can see the balls of fry around the beds, bream are starting to invade the bass beds. Very slow fishing, largest 4lbs.
  24. For me fishing deep is a marathon. You can fish a lot of great places but not get bit. Sometimes you just don't find them in the area or if they are there they are not biting. Sometimes if you see them you can trigger one and fire up the school. Other times not. If you watch major league fishing the guys are always talking about how there has to be good fish offshore. In that format their time is limited like most weekend fishermen. Those guys know they can spend hours offshore chasing ghosts. And they know more than I do for sure. I know they can pick good structure but that does not guarantee them success. Thats why most stick to the shallower bite for the limited time they have. I too am from a very shallow water area. Deep fishing is tough on me too but even a blind hog finds the slop from time to time.
  25. I don't have enough propane at the camp for a weekend like this.
