  1. Been a while since I been in here. Sold the camp at TB in 2018 and haven't been since. Its calling againšŸ˜€ Been missing it. Actually browsing the camps for sale.
  2. How's the bite on the big pond? I haven't been there since I sold the place a couple of years ago. Might make a trip in the next couple of weeks.
  3. Thanks Joe, but per the boss its gotta be a camp no camper/trailer/mobile home etc and has to be on the water. Thats where I'm stuck. Don't know if I want to spend that much on a fishing camp.
  4. I am interested in the creel surveys. The grass sure made it a lot easier. From what I see the tournament weights are down. When you really look at the size of the lake its amazing you catch anything without the grass to pile them up. Like Todd was saying, the last year I fished up there a lot I spent many mornings or afternoons trying to mark any fish at all. There was fish in the same areas as before but you caught a lot less and had to work a lot harder for the bite. The grass gave them an edge to hang out on. I'm supposed to get up there to look at a camp in a couple of weeks, still undecided if I want to take the plunge again.
  5. 167-168 is real good for me. Walker, I have buck perry's spoonplugging books if you want them. Good structure info.
  6. Still kicking it around. Wife says its gotta be on the water with nice view. Her idea of a camp and mine are 2 different things?. Looking around here too. For the work involved in owning a camp, renting a place is pretty cheap.
  7. Do you have any room to mount a second unit? I think I still have a couple of older birds. I'll ship you one and loan you a lakemaster card so you can see if its worth buying the card. I really liked the setup in my old boat of having one unit running sonar and the other just mapping.
  8. All this heat got me thinking about ya'll. Just dropped in to say hello. I'm thinking about looking for another place up there. Even though the fishing down here has been great, I kinda miss the old pond.
  9. I think maybe bass are similar to redfish and speckled trout. There are always small reds in the marsh, and small specks stay in as much as they can. The mature fish go in and out to do their thing. For example, the spot Catt's report came from. I've caught fish there year round, and a few good ones. But either the numbers of mature fish move out to main lake or larger creeks or the shallower resident fish just get beat up more. At least in my experience the larger numbers of nice fish are in the last outside third of the larger creeks or on the main lake most of the year.
  10. My guess would be a narrow creek channel coming out of a small cove, making a hard swing as it exits the cove. Your depths are pretty close.
  11. I think they still make a red craw or something like that in 1/4 that I use. I'll post a picture when I get home if I remember. I started adding flo orange paint (the one made for tipping gun sights)on the bottom. I always switch back and fourth between the 1/2 and 1/4. I never noticed a big difference in size of fish caught but some days they will eat both, some days neither, but some days they prefer one or the other.
  12. Just another day on the pond
  13. Get your most sensitive rod, spool with braid and put a 1/4 to 1/2 oz tungsten depending on the depth and drag the bottom. You will find what you are looking for, it will just take a little time.
  14. Yes, Happy Thanksgiving and a big thanks to those that make this a great read.
  15. I saw tons of shad in the back of a creek from the highway yesterday?
  16. Thanks Joe and Ronnie. Its been a good year down south. Venice was great til the river came up. The marsh is always good. Place is not sold yet, it may not. If it does I still plan to make trips up there every couple of months or so.
  17. Lil Joe, I'm adjusting a different way too. I'm selling the travel trailer up there. Just too many places with tons of fish to fight that monster if I don't have to. I'm sure it will come back but I ain't waiting.
  18. Yea, she sure went to crap in just a couple of years. gotta think something is going on or went on that is not just a down cycle.
  19. I'm thinking about making a short trip up next weekend
  20. Wow,,looks like the ole gal is really hurting
  21. Anyone have any info on day 1 of the BFL. Not really interested in top weight, somebody will catch them. More interested in 10-20th place to see whats going on. Heard a couple of encouraging reports from the end of the week from neighbors up there. Nothing outstanding but a whole lot better than last month. Hope they have a good tournament.
  22. All I'm hearing is a lot of moaning and groaning too. Maybe the next few weeks things will pick up.?
  23. I gotta cut grass too one of these days. Been laid up with a hamstring pull. Badminton can be a brutal game, especially when playing a 9 year old grandson.
  24. Are they doing any stocking? Maybe I need some new dumb fish to catch some. I noticed even the spots are being difficult lately. I have a couple of Sac a Lait poles rigged up for the next trip. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
