I think maybe bass are similar to redfish and speckled trout. There are always small reds in the marsh, and small specks stay in as much as they can. The mature fish go in and out to do their thing. For example, the spot Catt's report came from. I've caught fish there year round, and a few good ones. But either the numbers of mature fish move out to main lake or larger creeks or the shallower resident fish just get beat up more. At least in my experience the larger numbers of nice fish are in the last outside third of the larger creeks or on the main lake most of the year.
